903 Music Gets New Music Row Address

903 Music, multi-platinum country star Neal McCoy's record label which launched in February, has a new Music Row address. Located at 1024C 18th Avenue South, the 3,300 square-foot two-story brownstone space will also house Kane Entertainment, the artist management company representing McCoy.

903 Music's debut album will be McCoy's That's Life due out late Summer 2005. The album's first single is "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On," impacting radio this week with early airplay in Dallas, Houston, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, Portland, and Los Angeles, just to name a few showing strong support. Travis Tritt parts ways with Sony

Acclaimed country performer Travis Tritt is parting ways with his record label, Columbia Records, a division of Sony/Nashville. Tritt has recorded three albums for the label, most recently the highly-regarded My Honky Tonk History. Despite releasing the most highly-praised release of his storied career, Tritt differed with Sony on the project's direction, leading to the split.

My Honky Tonk History was one of the most acclaimed country releases of 2004, ending up on year-end critics' pick lists in the Detroit Free Press, Associated Press, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Dallas Morning News and others. More...

Grand Ole Opry Celebrates 80th Year

It all started on November 28, 1925 when a young announcer on WSM radio announced an 80-year-old fiddler named Uncle Jimmy Thompson. That announcer was George D. Hay, who went by the nickname of "The Solemn Old Judge." That show became known as the Grand Ole Opry. A name attributed to Hay, who during a broadcast in 1928 remarked, "For the past hour, we have been listening to music taken largely from Grand Opera, but now we will present 'The Grand Ole Opry.'"
