Mutual Admiration Society Coming in July

Mutual Admiration Society, a collaboration between Glen Phillips, Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins and Chris Thile (Nickel Creek), will be released on Sugar Hill July 13, 2004. Rehearsed, recorded, and mixed in just six days with producer Ethan Johns, the album features songs written and sung by Phillips, with accompaniment and other vocals from the Grammy-winning band. Also appearing on the album are Johns, Jen Consos and Richard Causon.

Phillips and Nickel Creek met in 2000, when a mutual friend discovered that the band was a huge fan of Phillips' songwriting and the work of his previous group, Toad The Wet Sprocket (Phillips is now a solo artist on Lost Highway Records). Emails were exchanged, and Phillips agreed to appear on Sean Watkins' first solo album, and invited Nickel Creek to join him for a set at the Santa Monica club, Largo. The musicians became fast friends and collaborators - dubbing themselves 'The Mutual Admiration Society.' After recording the album of the same name, they performed select dates together in 2001 to benefit the Red Cross. More...

Good things have come in twos this week for Lyric Street recording artist, Rascal Flatts. Last Wednesday (May 26, 2004) in Las Vegas, the group walked away with the Academy of Country Music's Vocal Group of the Year award for the second year in a row. Today, the group's double platinum, sophomore album, Melt, scanned in excess of two million units. According to the RIAA, only two country groups in the last 10 years have had their sophomore album certify double platinum and pass the two million scans mark--the Dixie Chicks in 1999 and now, Rascal Flatts.

Melt, released on October 29, 2002, achieved an impressive 500,000 plus shipped on its first day in the marketplace and was certified Platinum (sales over a million units) just five weeks after the album was released. Melt, has produced four hit singles--"These Days," which was a multi-week #1 across the board at country radio, and Top 10 singles "Love You Out Loud" and "I Melt." "Mayberry," the fourth single from the album, was their fastest-climbing single ever and was also another #1 hit for the group. Look for the new single, "Feels Like Today", from Rascal Flatts to hit Country Radio in mid-June followed by a new album currently scheduled for a September 28th release. More...
