Crystal Gayle Radio-Active Singer
With more than 20 dates on the books, Crystal Gayle is spending the dog days of summer on the road to perform in venues across the US and over the border. Most recently, Crystal performed Saturday, July 24 at the Niagara Fallsview Casino-Avalon in Niagara Falls Ontario (Canada). On their journey back toward the states, Crystals bus was stopped by officials at the US/Canadian border. The scanning mechanism detected radio activity transmitted from the bus setting off alarms. A complete and thorough search was conducted. No transmitter found. After interviewing with the parties on board, which included Crystal and her sister Peggy Sue Wright, the source was discovered. The radio active transmitter was Peggy Sue Wright! The conclusion was made by the following medical evidence: Peggy Sue had just recently undergone a thallium treadmill stress test just a few days before their departure.
Peggy Sue performs with Crystal on the road singing harmony. She is also featured as a special guest during the show to perform select country standards including her co-write with sister Loretta Lynn, the hit single Don't Come Home A 'Drinkin', which was recognized as CMT's 100 Greatest Country Songs (in the Top 50) and No. 3 in CMT's Top Drinking Songs.
Crystal gives her personal thanks and recognition to those individuals who protect and guard our borders.
Country Weekly On Board With Mark Chesnutt Savin The Honky Tonk
Reinforcing his current ambition and initiative to Save the Honky Tonk, Country Weekly jumped on board with Mark Chesnutt to demonstrate their support. Country Weekly staff writer David Scarlett, and photographer, Chris Hollo, boarded the bus with Mark @ 1:00AM (departing from Nashville) Saturday morning to take a reality road trip to Hamilton, Alabama. Capturing the true blue road experience, they enjoyed up close and personal banter, slept on the bus, ate on the bus, showered on the bus, and when it was Miller Time, they headed to the concert.
Mark performed in front of a sold-out honky tonk crowd. At the close--meeting audience demand--Mark returned to the stage for an encore performance of Dont Want To Miss A Thing. When he re-appeared, the stage was lined with fansall vying for their own personal autograph. A crowd pleaser, attending to their plea, Mark signed for more than fifteen minutes while his band continued to play the intro to his No. 1 hit song (Decca/1999). Playing the intro, over and over again, they guys got bored, so they decided to have some fun and changed the rendition from country to rock and then from rock to reggae style before Mark joined them to perform his final song.
