Mountain Heart Heads To Bluegrass Music Awards With Five Nominations

The six members of Mountain Heart are making their way to Louisville for tomorrow's 15th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, where they are nominated for five awards-Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, Mandolin Player of the Year (Adam Steffey) and Bass Player of the Year (Jason Moore). They will also perform on the show, which will be broadcast live from the Kentucky Center for the Arts on SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

Mountain Heart will also perform both shows at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9, when the show returns to the hallowed stage of the Ryman Auditorium for the weekend. More...

George Canyon’s One Good Friend Debuts At #1 In Canada!

October 6, 2004 - George Canyon’s first major label release, One Good Friend, debuted at the top of the Soundscan Country Music Charts in Canada this week and at #20 on the Soundscan Top 200 charts (all formats). The album, which features the hit single, “Never Do Better Than You,” currently at #14 bullet on the BDS charts in Canada, is Canyon’s first album since signing with Universal South. The video for “Never Do Better Than You” is in heavy rotation at CMT Canada and on the station’s Top 20.

Canyon, who walked away with The Chevy Trucks Rising Star Award at this year’s Canadian Country Music Awards is already a household name to millions of country fans in both the US and his native Canada, thanks to a strong second-place finish earlier this year on the USA Networks/CMT Canada television show Nashville Star in which he was the only Canadian contestant.

Rascal Flatts Have The #1 Album In The Nation

Rascal Flatts highly anticipated third album, Feels Like Today, made a stellar debut scanning an impressive 200,946 its first week in the marketplace. Released on Tuesday, September 28th, on Lyric Street Records, first week sales catapulted Feels Like Today into the #1 position on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart for all formats in addition to the #1 position on the Top Country Albums Chart. The trio -- Jay DeMarcus, Gary Levox and Joe Don Rooney -- is the 2nd of just two country groups to have an album simultaneously debut at #1 on the country and Top 200 charts in the history of SoundScan as well as being the first recording artist on Lyric Street Records to do so. Feels Like Today achieved an impressive million plus units shipped on its first day in the marketplace, and holds the honor of being the 5th highest country sales debut of 2004. More...
