CNN Presents To Feature Music Row Democrats and Honky Tonkers For Truth

Music Row Democrats, the Nashville-based grassroots political organization, and Honky Tonkers for Truth, a group of Nashville session musicians and others who work in the country music industry, will be featured on CNN Presents, Sunday night, October 31. The show will focus on the political country song, "I'm Takin' My Country Back," written by David Kent.

Earlier this week, National Public Radio covered and played "I'm Takin' My Country Back" and Don Imus played the song on his radio show at the prompting of his guest, Howard Dean. Listen to the song and see the new "I'm Takin' My Country Back" music video.

Hank Jr. Gets Exposed

Hank Williams Jr. can be seen gracing the cover of the current issue of Country Music Today Magazine along with platinum-selling newcomer Gretchen Wilson. In addition, Hank Jr. is gearing up for a weekend full of national television appearances. Williams appears this weekend on CMT Outlaws, CMT Greatest Outlaws: The Dirty Dozen, CMT Stacked, CMT Crossroads with Kid Rock, and on ABC’s Monday Night Football at the November 1st game in New York City. Check local listings for times.

The 2004 NFL season marks Hank Jr.’s 15th year as the voice of Monday Night Football’s theme song, “All My Rowdy Friends Are Here For Monday Night.”

His latest project on Curb Records is I’m One of You. Currently impacting radio is the single, “Devil In the Bottle.”

Martina McBride to be featured on cover of Redbook

RCA superstar and reigning ACM and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride will be featured on the cover of the December issue of Redbook. Earlier this month, McBride joined music icon Jimmy Buffett to film a video for “Trip Around the Sun,” their duet from Buffett’s chart-topping album, License to Chill. This week, the duet advances to #23* in Billboard and #18* in R&R.

Alan Jackson among winners at French Association of Country Music Awards

The international appeal of country music continues to shine as the French Association of Country Music held its second annual awards on October 23. Among the international winners were RCA Label Group winners and Arista Nashville labelmates Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, and Brooks & Dunn. Jackson won awards for Artist, Male Vocalist, Song (“Remember When”) and Video, with Jimmy Buffett for “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” Brooks & Dunn was named Duo of the Year, and Paisley was honored with Album of the Year for Mud on the Tires.

The 3rd Annual Lane Brody Wildlife Benefit For Walden¹s Puddle Announces Addition Of Ericka Dunlap (Miss America 2004) To Star-Studded Lineup

The crowned Miss America of 2004, Erika Dunlap, will join the other performers at the Lane Brody Wildlife Benefit for Walden¹s Puddle. On top of featuring Dunlap, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dobie Gray, The Love Sponge, Collin Raye and Lane Brody, the night will also include special performances to honor our veterans. The event starts at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) on November 11, 2004 at The Trap, 201 Woodland Street.

The event will be emceed by Katie Cook and Brad Schmitt and will offer intimate performances by the wonderful lineup of artists this year organized by music coordinator Eddie Bayers. More...

Faith Hill And Willie Nelson To Perform During Kris Kristofferson’s Country Music Hall Of Fame Induction During “the 38th Annual CMA Awards”

Country Music icon/actor/innovator and songwriter Kris Kristofferson will be formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame during a star-studded performance on “The 38th Annual CMA Awards” live on the CBS Television Network Tuesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. CMA announced that superstar Faith Hill and Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson would take part in the tribute to Kristofferson.

“Kris Kristofferson has an incredible body of work as a songwriter and performer,” said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. “He is very deserving of this honor and recognition during the CMA Awards. The challenge was narrowing a lifetime of contributions he has made to this industry to a representative sampling of his work.” More...

Tim McGraw Purchases Minority Interest in Nashville Kats Tim McGraw has purchased a minority interest in the Nashville Kats arena football franchise. K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr., the Kats’ majority owner, founder and CEO, made the announcement at a press conference on Monday.

“I am very pleased to welcome Tim McGraw to the Kats organization,” said Adams. “He is a man who brings excitement to everything he is a part of, and his involvement adds even more excitement to a fantastic sport like arena football. Tim is an avid football fan, and he is a suiteholder for the Titans. His love for the sport makes it a natural fit for him and for this organization.” more...
