Club Connection Announces the 10 Most Popular Country Dance Hits of 2004
This year, Marco Music Group¹s Club Connection surveyed over 170 clubs and prominent dance instructors nationwide to determine the most played and most requested country dance songs of 2004.
The Top 10 Dance Tracks Of 2004 per the Club Connection Survey were:

Shania Twain Has Top Country Tour
Shania Twain, according to Billboard, has the #1 country tour of the year, raking in $62.5 million. Twain lands at #3 on the overall list, with Madonna and Prince taking #1 and #2 respectively. In other Twain news, the superstar's 1997 release Come On Over has just been certified 20X platinum by the RIAA, solidifying it's place as the biggest selling country album in history.
Twain picked up two Grammy nominations last week for Best Country Female Performance for She's Not Just A Pretty Face and Best Country Collaboration for Coat Of Many Colors with Alison Krauss.
Twains label Mercury has several reasons to celebrate. R&R has named Twain #6 Female MVP. The label also took #9 Female MVP, #7 New Artist MVP with Julie Roberts, #3 Female MVP with Terri Clark and #10 Group/Duo MVP with Sugarland.

Jessi Alexander just finished her second music video for her upcoming
single, "Canyon Prayer," scheduled to be released at the end of January. "This is a song about inner struggle and surrender," says Jessi, "and everyone can identify in some way to those two things." Kristin Barlowe directed the video which touched Jessi the moment she read the treatment. "I remember thinking 'this is it!' I was moved to tears and called her half way through. She had visualized the song in a way, I as the writer had never seen it." Kristin brought in two horses for the video as metaphors for rebellion and acceptance. One of the horses was the grandson of Trigger.
RODNEY CROWELL:
In the December 10 issue of Entertainment Weekly, author Stephen King chose "Earthbound" by "the incomparable Rodney Crowell" as one of the best country singles of the year.

Big Tractor Music Publishing Nashville recently added Columbia Nashville recording artist Shelly Fairchild to its roster of hit songwriters. Phil Vassar Gives Las Vegas Surprise Performance At Famed Gilley's Night Club
Thursday night, singer-songwriter Phil Vassar performed his first night out of a three-day run at the Las Vegas Hilton. After the show members of the legendary rock band Journey popped backstage and talked with Phil about music. Phil then hurried onto Gilley's, the noted nightclub known for its country appeal located on the famous Las Vegas Strip. With the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) taking place in town the venue filled with cowboys, bull riders and the occasional country music star. It was at the club where Phil ran into Johnny Lee, who is performing at Gilley's for the NFR and is known for performances with Gilley's original band as well as his Urban Cowboy hit song "Lookin' for Love." The meeting inspired Phil to hop on stage for an impromptu performance. The crowd was fired up as Phil played his hit singles including his recent #1 smash "In A Real Love," and the chart climbing "I'll Take That As A Yes (The Hot Tub Song)." More...
