CRS time in Nashville is a time for those in the radio industry to not only work hard through the day learning all they can about the new technology, but after the day's work is done they can go play just as hard. Every night offers several choices of entertainment. The downfall, if you want to call it that, is that this entertainment generally doesn't start until after 10 pm. So, those that go to CRS just plan on getting no sleep. This reviewer only made it to two After Hours events due to the need for sleep.

Get Lucky With Eddie Bush
Up & Coming artist Eddie Bush threw a "Get Lucky" party on Tuesday night, Feb. 14. Along with munchies and a bar, guests could belly up to the tables and play Texas Hold 'Em Poker. It was an intimate setting with just Eddie and his guitar. He has a great contemporary country sound and is enjoyable to listen to. One of the songs he showcased was "Thin Blue Line," a true story he wrote about a friend who was a police officer. It was an excellent song with great lyrics. The setting was perfect to allow folks to get to know Eddie and his music a little better.

Broken Bow's Pick'n Parlor
On Thursday night, Feb. 16, I checked out Broken Bow label's Pick'n Parlor event. This was a standing room only performance by Broken Bow artists Craig Morgan, Chad Austin, Jason Aldean and newcomer Megan Mullins. Each artist sang a three song set of some of their album cuts. Megan is a real firecracker onstage and she can make her fiddle sing. I am really looking forward to seeing more of her in the future. And of course Craig and Jason are living proof that independent labels can run with the big boys. Chad Austin has a great honky tonk sound and I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him as well.

All in all, it was a fun week at CRS. The days were packed with lots of interesting information related to the radio industry, and the nights held a constant stream of entertainment choices. If one has to go to a seminar, I can think of worse than CRS.
