February 8, 2008 - Dolly Parton opens up with the Ladies Home Journal as she discusses starting her own record label, on which she will release her first mainstream country album in 17 years, Backwoods Barbie, plus she touches on her battle with depression, plastic surgery, and tells how she took control of her own destiny.
When asked about plastic surgery, Dolly said, "Ain't nothing I can do about the numbers but there's plenty I can do about how I look. And how I act... If somebody asks me point-blank, 'Have you had plastic surgery?' it's like, well, duh. I never talk about it unless someone asks me. But I don't want to lie about it." She claims her husband, Carl Dean, has even made playful banter this: "Why should I cheat on her when I get a new woman every six months?" she says of his reaction to her collagen procedures.
When asked about children, Dolly said that she was child-like enough that being with kids gives her an outlet, too. She enjoys her neices and nephews, and realizes that it's probably good that she doesn't have her own children, so that everybody's kids can be hers.
She talks about how people think she's always happy, but that's not the case. But, she always tries to be happy, because she has a lot to be grateful for.
The March issue will hit newsstands on February 12th.
