On the Charts - Billboard Country Singles and Albums

For week of April 29, 2006

From Jennifer Webb, for About.com

Top 10 Country Singles
For a fourth week, Rascal Flatts' "What Hurts The Most" is in the No. 1 position on the charts. "Who Says You Can't Go Home," by Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles, remains closely behind at No. 2 and Toby Keith's "Get Drunk and Be Somebody" stays in the No. 3 position. Jason Aldean jumps five spots to No. 4 with his song, "Why." Keith Urban dropped a single spot to No. 5 with "Tonight I Wanna Cry," Jack Ingram dropped a spot to No. 6 with "Wherever You Are," and Faith Hill finds herself at No. 7 with her song, "The Lucky One." Brooks & Dunn's "Believe" is at No. 8 another week and Dierks Bentley's "Settle For A Slow Down" settles for spot No. 9. LeAnn Rimes rounds things out at No. 10 with her song, "Something's Gotta Give." With Rascal Flatts losing spins, I will predict a No. 1 for Bon Jovi with Jennifer Nettles next week.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Two artists had songs that moved up six spots this week. The first is Miranda Lambert whose "Brand New Strings" hit No. 53 and the second is Garth Brooks who moved to No. 42 with "That Girls Is A Cowboy." The biggest jump this week is Rascal Flatts and their song "Me And My Gang" jumped an amazing sixteen spots to land on No. 39.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
This week there are only three new songs hitting the air waves: "Gone Either Way," by Ray Scott, debuted at No. 59, Scotty Emerick's "What's Up With That" debuted at No. 56, and Toby Keith's "A Little Too Late" debuted in the No. 45 position.

Top 10 Country Album Charts
It was another strong week for Rascal Flatts' album, Me And My Gang, which remained at No. 1 for the second week. Toby Keith's latest, White Trash With Money, was only fifteen thousand units behind Rascal Flatts and debuted at No. 2 causing Tim McGraw's Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Reflected to drop to No. 3. Alan Jackson's Precious Memories hit No. 4, Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts hit No. 5, and Keith Urban stayed at No. 6 with Be Here. Dropping two spots to No. 7 was Johnny Cash's The Legend Of Johnny Cash. Another Rascal Flatts album in the Top 10 is No. 8's Feels Like Today. No. 9 went to the Walk the Line Soundtrack, while Josh Turner dropped to No. 10 with Your Man.

Whats New on the Album Charts This Week?
Other than Toby Keith's No. 2 debut of White Trash With Money, there was only one other album debuting on the charts. Jeff Bates debuted his album, Leave The Light On, at No. 12.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for April 29, 2006.
