Top 10 Country Singles
I hate to admit it, but I was wrong predicting LeAnn Rimes would be No. 1 this week, because the honors go to Kenny Chesney with "Summertime." LeAnn Rimes had to settle for No. 2 with her song, "Something's Gotta Give." No. 3 finds Dierks Bentley's "Settle For A Slow Down," Phil Vassar's "The Last Day Of My Life" stays at No. 4, and Tim McGraw jumps a single spot to No. 5 with "When The Stars Go Blue." Also advancing one spot is Brad Paisley with "The World" landing at No. 6. Dropping two spots to No. 7 is Jason Aldean's "Why," while Carrie Underwood's "Don't Forget To Remember Me" is No. 8 for the second week in a row. The last two songs in the Top 10 are also the same as last week: Joe Nichols' "Size Matters (Someday)" is No. 9 and No. 10 is "Everytime I Hear Your Name," by Keith Anderson. I'm sure next week Kenny Chesney will be celebrating a second week at No. 1.
Moving Up at the Speed of Light
There aren't too many songs moving up at the speed of light this week. "Love You," by Jack Ingram, jumped five spots to No. 47 and Rio Grand's song "Kill Me Now" also jumped five spots to land at No. 42. The biggest jump of the week is No. 31's "Building Bridges" by Brooks & Dunn (w/ Sheryl Crow and Vince Gill) with a total of ten spots gained.
The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Faith Hill debuted "Sunshine And Summertime" at No. 57 and Gretchen Wilson debuted her song, "California Girls" at No. 53.
Top 10 Country Album Charts
The Dixie Chicks are hanging on tight to the No. 1 spot with Taking The Long Way, despite experiencing lackluster concert ticket sales. Rascal Flatts are still at No. 2 with Me And My Gang, waiting to see if they can reclaim the top spot at some point. Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts remains in the No. 3 position, No. 4 is Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Reflected, Toby Keith's White Trash With Money is No. 5, and The Wreckers are at No. 6 with Stand Still, Look Pretty. Alan Jackson's Precious Memories lands at No. 7 and Johnny Cash's The Legend Of Johnny Cash jumps two places to No. 8. Keith Urban drops two to No. 9 with Be Here and No. 10 finds Rascal Flatts second Top 10 entry, Feels Like Today.
Re-entering The Charts
Only one album re-enters the charts this week and that is Shooter Jennings', Put The O Back In Country at No. 75.
NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for June 17, 2006.
