For week of June 24, 2006

From Jennifer Webb, for About.com

Top 10 Country Singles
As predicted, Kenny Chesney's "Summertime" is No. 1 for the second week in a row. Moving into the No. 2 spot is Phil Vassar's "The Last Day Of My Life," while Brad Paisley jumped three spots to No. 3 with "The World." Tim McGraw's "When The Stars Go Blue" jumps a single spot to No. 4 and No. 5 is LeAnn Rimes' "Something's Gotta Give." Carrie Underwood jumped two spots landing on No. 6 with her song, "Don't Forget To Remember Me," Dierks Bentley drops four spaces landing on No. 7 with "Settle For A Slow Down," and Toby Keith's "A Little Too Late" hits No. 8 this week. Keith Anderson jumps a spot to No. 9 with "Everytime I Hear Your Name" and Joe Nichols drops to No. 10 with "Size Matters (Someday)." Though it might be a close race between Kenny Chesney and Phil Vassar, I will predict Kenny will be No. 1 yet again.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Only two songs are moving up at the speed of light this week: Gretchen Wilson's "California Girls" jumped 10 spots to No. 43 and Faith Hill's "Sunshine And Summertime" leaped an amazing fifteen spots to hit No. 42.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Jeff Bates debuted his song, "One Second Chance" at No. 59, Trent Tomlinson's "One Wing In The Fire" hit No. 58, and Zona Jones made it to No. 57 with "I'll Give It To You."

Top 10 Country Album Charts
The Dixie Chicks still find themselves at the top of the country charts with their album, Taking The Long Way, while Rascal Flatts still cling on to No. 2 with Me And My Gang. Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts seems to be stuck at No. 3, right next to Various Artist's Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For The Road debuting at No. 4. Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Reflected is No. 5, Alan Jackson jumps a spot to No. 6 with Precious Memories, and Toby Keith's No. 7 entry is White Trash With Money. Dropping two spots to No. 8, The Wreckers might have to do more than just Stand Still, Look Pretty. Rounding out the Top 10 is Johnny Cash's The Legend Of Johnny Cash at No. 9 and Kenny Chesney's The Road And The Radio at No. 10.

New Album Releases
Roy Orbison's The Essential Roy Orbison album debuted at No. 75, Various Artists album Strummin' With The Devil: The Southern Side Of Van Halen hit No. 66, and the biggest debut of the week is the aforementioned No. 4 album, Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For The Road by Various Artists.
