For week of August 05, 2006

From Jennifer Webb, for About.com

Top 10 Country Singles
Looks like Brad Paisley has held on to the No. 1 spot for the third week in a row with his song, "The World." Carrie Underwood advances a spot to land her song, "Don't Forget To Remember Me," at No. 2 and Rodney Atkins' "If You're Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows)" jumped two spots to land at No. 3. No. 4 is Toby Keith's "A Little Too Late," No. 5 is Kenny Chesney's "Summertime," and "Me And My Gang" (by Rascal Flatts) is No. 6. Dropping to No. 7 is "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" by Gary Allan. The next two entries are exactly as they were last week: No. 8 is The Wreckers' Leave The Pieces and No. 9 is Little Big Town's "Bring It On Home." Steve Holy moved into the Top 10 with No. 10's "Brand New Girlfriend." I will go out on a limb and predict Toby Keith will have next week's No. 1 spot.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Rascal Flatts' "Life Is A Highway" jumped seven spots to land on No. 37, Dierks Bentley's latest ("Every Mile A Memory") advanced a total of ten spots to land at No. 24, but the biggest advance is Alan Jackson's "Like Red On A Rose." It jumped from No. 42 to No. 28 - a total of fourteen spaces.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Four songs are hitting the charts for the first time: No. 57's "That's So You" (by Rushlow), No. 56's "The Reason Why" (by Vince Gill), No. 55's "Cheapest Motel" (by Tracy Byrd), and Chris Young's "Drinkin' Me Lonely" at No. 54.

Top 10 Country Album Charts
Rodney Atkins makes a big splash this week by debuting his album, If You're Going Through Hell, at No. 1. Rascal Flatts remain at No. 2 with Me And My Gang, The Dixie Chicks stay at No. 3 with Taking The Long Way, and last week's No. 1 (Johnny Cash's American V: A Hundred Highways) drops to No. 4. Carrie Underwood drops to No. 5 with Some Hearts. Advancing five spots to land at No. 6 is Alan Jackson's album, Precious Memories. No. 7 is Eric Church with his debut album, Sinners Like Me, No. 8 is Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Reflected, and No. 9 Toby Keith's White Trash With Money. The Wreckers' album, Stand Still, Look Pretty, dropped three spots to round out the Top 10.

What's New on the Album Charts This Week?
A total of four albums have found their way to the album charts this week. Billboard #1s: Classic Country by Various Artists hit No. 34 and No. 24's Wanna Be Your Joe is by Billy Ray Cyrus. Already-mentioned are No. 7's Sinners Like Me by Eric Church and No. 1's If You're Going Through Hell by Rodney Atkins close this week's round of new albums.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for August 05, 2006.
