On the Charts - Country Singles and Albums - February 17, 2007

From Shelly Fabian, About.com Guide

Top 10 Country Singles

Rodney Atkins' "Watching You," is No. 1 for another week and George Strait is still waiting in the wings at No. 2 with "It Just Comes Natural." Still at No. 3 is Brad Paisley's "She's Everything." No. 4 is Trace Adkins one spot higher with "Ladies Love Country Boys," No. 5 is Jason Aldean's "Amarillo Sky," and Keith Urban is still No. 6 with "Stupid Boy." Advancing two spots to No. 7 is "Little Bit Of Life," by Craig Morgan. Jason Michael Carroll's "Alyssa Lies" dropped a spot to No. 8 and Nartina McBride's latest ("Anyway") also dropped one spot to No. 9. Sliding into the Top 10 is No. 10's "Beer In Mexico" by Kenny Chesney. Though Rodney Atkins and George Strait are losing spins, I will predict that George will have the top spot next week.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
Carrie Underwood's "Wasted" jumped seven spots to land on No. 14, while Bomshel's "Bomshel Stomp" did one better by jumping eight spots (landing at No. 52). The week's highest mover was Montgomery Gentry's No. 39 song "Lucky Man." It sky-rocketed a total of fourteen spots. The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves
Four new songs hit the air waves this week: No. 60's "I Wonder" by Kellie Pickler, No. 59's "That Kinda Day" by Sarah Buxton, No. 44's "Johnny Cash" by Jason Aldean, and Toby Keith's "High Maintenance Woman" at No. 37.

Top 10 Country Album Charts
This week's No. 1 might be something of a shocker - Totally Country 6, by Various Artists, debuted at No. 1, meaning Rascal Flatts' Me And My Gang is No. 2, and Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts was knocked down to No. 3. Rodney Atkins' If You're Going Through Hell is No. 4, Keith Urban is No. 5 with Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, and Tracy Lawrence's For The Love at No. 6. No. 7 is Taylor Swift's self-titled album. Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted is No. 8, No. 9 is Josh Turner with Your Man, and No. 10 is Sugarland's Enjoy the Ride.

What's New on the Album Charts This Week?
Five albums are making their debut on the charts this week: No. 70's The Love Songs by Clint Black, No. 52's Forever Country (by Various Artists), and No. 21's The Very Best Of Travis Tritt. Already mentioned were Tracy Lawrence's For The Love at No. 6 and Totally Country 6 (by Various Artists) at No. 1.

NOTE: All chart rankings are based on the song or album's position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart or Billboard Country Albums Chart for February 17, 2007.
