Top 10 Country Singles

Taylor Swift closed out 2007 with her second week at No. 1 with "Our Song," and she opens 2008 with a third week at the Top of the charts with the song. Sugarland moves up three places to claim the No. 2 spot with "Stay," followed by Montgomery Gentry, who are hot on their tail, moving up one place to No. 3 with "What Do You Think About That." Josh Turner falls from No. 2 to No. 4 this week with "Firecracker." Rascal Flatts move up two to claim the No. 5 spot with "Winner at a Losing Game." Keith Urban moves up two spots with "Everybody" at No. 6, followed by Kenny Chesney's "Don't Blink," which drops one to No. 7. George Strait drops five places to No. 8 with "How 'Bout Them Cowgirls," followed by Brad Paisley with "Letter to Me" remaining at No. 9 for a second week, and Gary Allan "Watching Airplanes" remaining at No. 10 for a second week. I expect Taylor to remain at No. 1 for a fourth week, even though she's losing spins. So is everyone else in the Top 10.

Moving Up at the Speed of Light
The Song Trust's "Bring Him Home Santa" is our fastest moving song this week, but I don't expect that to continue with the holidays ending. The song moved eleven places, from No. 40 to No. 29. Kenny Chesney & George Strait's duet, "Shiftwork" moves up eight places, from No. 25 to No. 17 this week, capturing the "Airpower" distinction on Billboard. Garth Brooks & Huey Lewis' duet "Workin' For a Livin'" moves up nine places, from its debut at No. 50 to No. 41 this week. Carrie Underwood's "All-American Girl" advances eight places, from No. 28 to No. 22, receiving the "Greatest Gainer" distinction on Billboard. Sugarland's "Winter Wonderland" also moves up eight spots, from No. 58 to No. 50.

The Latest Tunes To Hit The Air Waves

The three new songs this week are all Christmas tunes. I wouldn't expect any of them to go any higher than their debut positions, due to the lateness of the season. Sugarland has the "Hot Shot Debut" on Billboard, with "Nuttin' For Christmas" debuting at No. 51. Toby Keith's "Little Drummer Boy" debuts at No. 58. Sara Evans "I'll Be Home For Christmas" debuts at No. 59.
