Dierks Bentley was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. With influences such as George Jones and Hank Williams, Dierks had a traditional style. At the age of 19, Dierks moved to Nashville and began playing in numerous bars in town, while working during the day at TNN to pay the bills. He recorded an independent record, which got his music out to the right people on Music Row, and was signed to a publishing deal with Sony/Tree Publishing. He performed a showcase for two labels, and was approached by Capitol Nashville, who signed him to the label.
