Product Reviews

Reviews of various country music CDs.
Aaron Tippin -You've Got To Stand For Something
Aaron Tippin has one of the most distinctive and truly country voices in country music today. With this, his debut album, he showed immediately that he meant business. Not for him the pretty-boy look that was popularized at the time; instead, a solidly built body builder with a crewcut glowered from the CD jacket; no cowboy hat, no soft lazy smile.
Mike Clifford - All Night, All Day
Review of Mike Clifford's All Night, All Day CD
Alabama - For The Record
“For The Record - 41 Number One Hits” is Alabama’s biggest greatest hits CD to date. Ok, maybe they weren’t all number one hits. I know a few only made it to #2 or #3, but that is beside the point. There’s no doubt that these are the finest songs ever to be recorded by this southern band.
Alabama - Greatest Hits Video Collection
All the videos in this collection are #1 hits. From the sultry "Fire in the Night" to the classic "Mountain Music"--plus seven others--the group captures a spirit of good times and good music.
Alabama - In The Mood
Here is Matt's review of Alabama's "In The Mood."
Alan Jackson - Drive
Who would have known back in 1989 that when a blond-haired singer hit the country music scene, that he would achieve such a superstar status in a relatively short span of time. Along with Garth Brooks and George Strait, Alan Jackson has continuously put out great tradition sounding country music for the fans to enjoy.
Alan Jackson - Greatest Hits
This collection includes 20 songs, including his number one hits; "Chattahoochee," "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)," "I'd Love You All Over Again," and "Don't Rock the Jukebox."
Alan Jackson - Here In The Real World
When Alan first came on the scene, he was just one of the many neotraditionalists, and it would be left to time to tell that he was here to stay. In the liner notes, Jackson is quoted as saying, "You know that country song, 'Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?' I don't know where I can fill 'em, but I'd sure like to try 'em on." Alan does just that in this album.
Alan Jackson - Honky Tonk Christmas
This is a smart mix of old and new songs, and includes a duet with Alison Krauss, ("And The Angels Cried,") and Keith Whitley, through the magic of a previously recorded track, ("There's a New Kid in Town,") and even one with the cartoon Chipmunks in ("Santa's Gonna Come in a Pickup Truck.")
Alan Jackson - When Somebody Loves You
One of country music's traditionalists, Alan Jackson continues to release classic country music, yet remain a contemporary artist, receiving airplay on today's country radio. This 2001 release includes such hits as "www.memory," "When Somebody Loves You," and "Where I Come From."
Alison Krauss + Union Station - New Favorite
New Favorite is the title of the new album by Alison Krauss. It is an acoustic Blue Grass album released off the Uni/Rounder label. It features some great instrumentals by some very talented artists. Alison has an incredibly pure voice and is one of the best fiddle players I have heard. She is joined by Union Station - Barry Bales, Ron Block, Jerry Douglas, and Dan Tyminski.
Alison Krauss - Forget About It
The album is not overly bluegrassy, with the exception of "Never Got Off The Ground," which does have a distinct bluegrass feel. Alison has her Union Station bandmates playing and vocalizing on the album with her. The song has a more pop or even jazz feel to it. Very soothing and one that would appeal to someone who's big into ballads.
Andy Griggs - Freedom
Stepping up the already high quality found in his previous album, Andy Griggs really shows us what he is made of on his second album entitled "Freedom."
Andy Griggs - You Won't Ever Be Lonely
"You Won't Ever Be Lonely" was Andy's big debut single and this song about unconditional love made it all the way to number two on the Billboard Charts, number one on the R&R Charts. His second single, dedicated to his wife, shot to number two on Billboard.
Anthony Michael James - Old Friends
Review of Anthony Michael James' CD 'Old Friends.'
Asleep At The Wheel - Ride With Bob
With fourteen of country's best performers helping them, Asleep at the Wheel has produced one of the finest Bob Wills Tribute albums out there. Four of the songs from the album were nominated for Grammys and three of them won. This is a collaboration of newer artists and country legends side by side.
Asleep at the Wheel - The Very Best of...
This is the first time that ALL of the fan favorites have been recorded onto one CD. Since this band has been around for so long, many of the fan favorites are on albums that are either no longer in print or very hard to find. Ray's motto is: "Give the people what they want," so he compiled his most popular song requests onto this one album.
Billy Gilman - One Voice
An instant success despite the fact that there was only one moderately hit single, the stunning "One Voice," which was written for Billy, the CD by the same name nonetheless showcased a promising vocal talent that, given time to mature, could become one of the best that country music has to offer.
Blaine Larson - In My High School
Review of In My High School from Blaine Larson.
Blake Shelton - Blake Shelton
Blake Shelton's debut single from this album "Austin" caught the hearts of everyone, and stayed at the top of the Billboard Country Singles charts for four weeks. This album has something for everyone, being traditional-sounding with a smack of contemporary sound that will be sure to get him airplay.
Blake Shelton - The Dreamer
Here is my review of Blake Shelton's "The Dreamer."
Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys -Take Me Back To Tulsa
These are the original Columbia recordings, which include the title track, "Osage Stomp," "Blue Yodel No. 1," "San Antonio Rose," and "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy From Dumas."
BR549 - This is BR549
BR549 is a band that is tottering on the edge of a music revolution that is occuring in country music. In a time of country music pop star wanna-be singers and cute boy bands, they are neither. They are a bunch of guys playing the traditional honky tonk style country music that they love.
Brad Cotter - Patient Man
Review of Brad Cotter's debut album 'Patient Man.'
Brad Paisley - <i>Part II</i>
Brad Paisley won the 2001 CMA Vocal Event award for "Too Country," which he recorded with Bill Anderson, George Jones, and Buck Owens. The album also contains the hits, "Wrapped Around," and "Too People Fell in Love."
Brad Paisley - Who Needs Pictures
This debut album from Brad Paisley contains 13 songs, 12 of which Brad wrote or co-wrote. And of those 12, he released four singles, and two of them became No. 1 songs for him. Not a bad ratio for a new artist. Add to that the fact that he can actually play an instrument well, and that makes for a triple threat.
Brooks & Dunn - Brand New Man
When "Brand New Man" was first released, one of the phrases written about it was along the lines of "this disc is just plain fun." And that it is. Pure honky-tonkin' country music, straight from one of the best of the new traditionalists. Brooks and Dunn came on strong right from the start, showing they were not to be trifled with.
Brooks & Dunn - Greatest Hits Collection
This album contains 16 of Brooks & Dunn's biggest hits plus three new songs; "Honky Tonk Truth," "He's Got You," & "Days of Thunder." A definite must have for anyone getting into country music. Brooks & Dunn can play honky tonk, touching ballads, & dance tunes with equal flair.
Brooks & Dunn Steers & Stripes
Steers and Stripes is this country duo's ninth release, and contains the no. 1 hits "Only in America" and "Ain't Nothin' About You." The album is also nominated for 2001 CMA Album of the Year.
Bruce Robison - Country Sunshine
Bruce wrote all but four of the eleven tracks on "Country Sunshine" by himself, and those four were co-written by Bruce, so you really get to hear his beautiful songwriting capabilities.
Bryan White - Bryan White
While "Eugene" wasn't a smash hit, it did crack the Billboard Top 40 in fall of 1994. The second single was "Look At Me Now." What happened after the mild success of the first two singles is remarkable. In those days, most new artists who didn't have a Top 10 hit right off the bat were released by their label. The third single, "Someone Else's Star," became Bryan's first No. 1 hit.
Buck Owens - Young Buck: The Pre-Capitol Recordings
As you might expect from an early collection, you see signs of greatness. These are all recordings prior to his signing with Capitol Records.
Carolyn Dawn Johnson - Room With a View
Unless you are one of those people who reads every line of every CD insert, you are probably like me and had never heard of Carolyn Dawn Johnson until just a few months ago. Having penned songs with or for artists like Chely Wright, Jo Dee Messina and SheDaisy, I can't believe she's relatively unknown to the average country fan.
Charlie Daniels Band - Redneck Fiddlin' Man
The legendary Charlie Daniels is releasing yet another album sure to become a fast favorite. It is from Audium records and has some incredible songs on it. Due to the high energy level on the majority of the songs, this would be a great CD to pop in the stereo for a fun get-together.
Charlie Daniels Band - Super Hits
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" is Charlie's most well known hit. It was a pop and country smash. The song is still played on country radio and classic rock stations. If you are looking for some great classic country/rock by a great band look no further than the Charlie Daniels Band.
Charlie Robison - Life of the Party
The songs Charlie writes are so vibrant and full of imagery that you feel you are right there smack dab in the middle of the song's situation as you listen to the radio-friendly "Barlight" and "Poor Man's Son." "Loving County" is a haunting tale about a man that loved a girl he later murdered and was locked up in a prison, confined to looking up at the east Texas sky through his cell window.
Charlie Robison - Step Right Up
Words cannot express how talented Charlie Robison is because, not only can he write, he has such a unique flair to him that allows him to be humorous one minute and completely serious the next. Working long and hard has always been his way of living and those traits have prepared him for the road that has brought him to where he is today.
Chely Wright - Never Love You Enough
This album is the impressive follow-up to Chely's gold-standard "Single White Female." It contains the singles "Jezebel," and the title track, plus a duet with Brad Paisley, "One Night in Vegas."
Chely Wright - Single White Female
The album is a nice mixture of fast-paced songs and ballads. The singles are really well-done, and the rest of the album is not what you'd call filler. The songs have that uniqueness that is Chely, and it's easy to see why this record is her most successful to date.
Chris Cagle - Chris Cagle
Here is my review of Chris Cagle's sophomore release.
Chris Cagle - Play It Loud
Chris Cagle originally released his album on Virgin Nashville, back in January of 2000. The label has closed, and Chris moved over to Capitol Nashville. Capitol decided to re-release his album, adding two new songs, and an Enhanced CD, to give fans more Cagle.
Chris Knight - A Pretty Good Guy
Chris Knight is one of those Texan singer/songwriters that I absolutely love. Sometimes while listening to an artist's album you never get the feeling of honesty and heartfelt emotion but with Chris Knight's A Pretty Good Guy, a person would sense a rather deep connection and a bearing of his soul
Chris Richards - Tumblers & Grit
Review of Chris Richards' 'Tumblers & Grit.'
Chris Young - A Little at a Time
Review of Chris Young's CD, 'A Little at a Time.'
Chris Young - I Wish I Was Lyin'
Review of Chris Young's CD 'I Wish I Was Lyin'.'
Clark Family Experience - Clark Family Experience
Despite no Billboard or radio success, the boys of Clark Family Experience have perservered and released their album, which hopefully means that fans of country music will catch on and grab this fun and unique album.
Clay Davidson - Unconditional
"Unconditional" was a song that almost everyone could relate to. His other singles were the up-tempo, "I Can't Lie To Me" and ballad, "Sometimes." Capturing the party side of the album is "We're All Here," which is reminiscent of Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places."
Clay Walker - Clay Walker
The biggest hit off the CD almost didn't happen at all. "Dreaming With My Eyes Wide Open" wasn't gonna be a single but after being attached to the movie "Thing Called Love" the song was released. Another Number One hit, this track, along with the other hits make Clay Walker's debut record one of the best to be released in the 1990s
Clay Walker - Say No More
If you've liked Clay's previous work, you'll really enjoy this album. There isn't a bad song on here. There are traditional songs, powerful ballads, and a little western swing. Something for everyone
Cledus T. Judd - Another Day in Parodies
Cledus T. Judd is one of the best at musical parody, and this album is no exception. This is Cledus' first release since coming over to Sony from the small label "Razor and Tie," and he's chosen songs by fellow label-mates, the Dixie Chicks and even mentions Billy Ray Cyrus and Billy Gilman in another original song.
Clint Black - Greatest Hits II
This is Clint's second Greatest Hits collection, and contains a total of sixteen songs, three of which date back to his first CD. There are also four new songs.
Clint Black - Greatest Hits
It's quite amazing that until this CD, with "Desperado," every song included on a Clint Black CD was written or co-written by himself. "Like The Rain" was the first single and eighth number one from this collection. Other songs not available anywhere else are: "Wherever You Go," and "Cadillac Jack Favor."
Clint Black - Killin' Time
Clint Black's debut album thundered onto the country airwaves in 1989, perking up ears and turning heads wherever his finely-honed tenor was heard. The album contains five consecutive No. 1 hits with "A Better Man," "Killin' Time," "Nothing's News," "Walkin' Away," and "Nobody's Home." It is heart-searing and uncompromisingly country in its emotional content and theme.
Clint Black - Looking For Christmas
Released In 1995, this CD became an instant holiday classic. All of the songs were written by Clint Black, as was the case on ALL his CD's until his Greatest Hits I CD. This is an amazing feat considering the fact that most artists rely on the greats of yester-year, like "White Christmas," or "Away In The Manger," and add one or two new songs.
Clint Black - Put Yourself in My Shoes
Clint Black had a lot to live up to after the thundering perfection of his critically and popularly acclaimed debut, "Killin' Time." While it did not win the same accolades of that debut, Clint's second album, "Put Yourself in My Shoes," is nonetheless a tremendous disc.
Collin Raye - All I Can Be
While the first single, "All I Can Be (Is A Sweet Memory)" was a Top 20 hit at Billboard, it was the second single, "Love, Me" which became what some still would consider his signature song. Written about a life-long marriage, the singer's grandparents, the song resonated with fans enough to become Collin's first Billboard No. 1 hit.
Collin Raye - Can't Back Down
While Collin has left his label since the completion of this CD, that fact is in no way a reflection of the quality of music you will hear on it. The CD is nothing short of awesome, by far one of his best efforts.
Collin Raye - Extremes
Extremes, like its title has songs of various types, from the rollicking "That's My Story, to the tender "If I Were You. Collin also does an excellent job covering Waylon Jennings' "Dreaming My Dreams," and takes on the story of alcoholism in "Little Rock."
Collin Raye - I Think About You
"I Think About You" was released on Collin Raye's birthday in 1995. What a birthday present. The success of his previous CDs continued with this release. There was 6 singles released from the CD and 3 of those went to the top of the charts.
Collin Raye - Love Songs
Of the ten songs included on this album, nine have been previously released. The new song is the classic Perry Como tune, "And I Love You So," which like the others before it is sung to perfection.
Confederate Railroad - Unleashed
They received the ACM's Best New Group award in 1993. Since then, such hits as "Trashy Women" and "Jesus and Mama" helped them sell over 5 million albums and earned them many award nominations, including a Grammy nomination. This album keeps their unique style of country music alive and well.
Craig Morgan - Craig Morgan
One of the highlights of this album was "I Wish I Could See Bakersfield." It features a guest vocal appearance by Merle Haggard. "Paradise" was somewhat of an autobiography for the very patriotic military veteran and did very well on the charts. "I Want Us Back" is a haunting love song that also did very well on the charts.
Craig Morgan - I Love It
Review of Craig's "I Love It" CD.
Cyndi Thomson - My World
This being Cyndi Thomson's debut album, there is absolutely no telling what kind of emotions she was feeling when My World was released. Much to everyone's surprise, she became quite the overnight Country Superstar success story that could not only sing like a beautiful bird, but could write songs as well.
Dale Watson - Live in London, England
There are 21 tracks on this live disc, each one an absolute winner. Dale does not offer any filler in his shows, and does not hold back when he plays. He offers a warning for his live shows: "The music contained in this show contains lyrics about honky tonks, truck driving men, drinkin', cheatin', and other topics considered to be too provocative for today's candy-assed country music."
Danni Leigh - Divide & Conquer
Jim Lauderdale and his songs are featured throughout the album, and he and Danni make for a good combination. "He Used To Say That To Me," "House of Pain," and "Sometimes" are excellent examples of what country music should sound like, while "Yesterday," written solely by Danni, is about making mistakes and shooting for better in the next relationship.
Darryl Worley - Hard Rain Don't Last
When I first heard Darryl sing When You Need My Love I thought he sounded like Garth Brooks. Now in listening to the whole album, I have to say the Garth-sound doesn't seem as noticeable. Sometimes he sounds like Merle Haggard, which isn't surprising, since Merle is one of Darryl's musical influences. Overall, his sound is jus that HIS sound, and I love it.
Darryl Worley - Have You Forgotten
Here is Matt's review of Darryl's "Have You Forgotten" CD.
Darryl Worley - I Miss My Friend
While this album is traditional to the core, I still think the songs are ones that will play on the radio. There's a little something for everyone... some tear-jerkers, some fast and rowdy songs, and some songs with a message.
Daryle Singletary - Daryle Singletary
Hailed as the "new traditionalist" keeper of the flame (traditional country's), Daryle Singletary emerged on the scene in early 1995 with his honky tonk single, "I'm Livin Up To Her Low Expectations." While it wasn't bigger than a Top 40 hit, the song nonetheless created a buzz that quickly spread throughout the country music community. His following singles became Top 10 hits.
Daryle Singletary - Now and Again
This album contains all of Daryle's biggest hits and four stellar new tracks to support them However, of all three singles that the label released from the CD, only "I Knew I Loved You" even approached the Billboard Top 40 chart. While there weren't any new hits to support the older ones, this CD is still a worthy addition to any country music fan's collection.
Daryle Singletary - That's Why I Sing This Way
That's Why I Sing This Way is a tribute to all the artists that inspired Daryle. The only new song is "That's Why I Sing This Way," a song that perfectly sums up his childhood and how it came to pass that he wanted to grow up and be just like his idol - George Jones. Some of his idols, such as George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Paycheck join him on various songs from the past.
David Ball - Amigo
From the heartwarming first single, "Riding With Private Malone," which tells of a soldier that died in the war and came back to be a guardian angel of the new owner of the car he used to have, to the sure-to-be future hit tunes, "Loser Friendly" and "Swing Baby," you get a lot of different sounds in one nifty package
David Ball - Thinkin' Problem
This is the album that launched the career of David Ball, and turned him into an overnight superstar of the early nineties. If anyone was deserving, it was him because he has kept the rock and pop out of country, much like he still does today.
Deana Carter - Did I Shave My Legs For This
Truly one of the surprise success stories from the mid 1990's, Deana Carter's "Did I Shave My Legs For This?" quickly became one of 1996's biggest selling albums. The first single from the album was the beautiful waltz, "Strawberry Wine." The song went on to win 1997's single of the year and was a multi-week number one hit.
Deana Carter - I'm Just a Girl
Review of Deana's "I'm Just a Girl."
Derailers - Here Come The Derailers
The energetic group known as the Derailers have released their debut album with Lucky Dog Records. It is titled "Here Come The Derailers." After listening to their album, it seems appropriate. They are bringing a fresh sound into country music and livening things up just a little. They rely heavily on the sound that I associate with Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakum - the Telecaster.
Deryl Dodd - Pearl Snaps
Deryl has a wonderful album on his hands with "Pearl Snaps." He writes his songs, he sings he songs, he feels his songs like nobody else ever could and yet, sadly, we have to wait and see if radio stations will play his musical works of Country Music art.
Diamond Rio - Diamond Rio
"Diamond Rio" is a superb first album, a tremendous example of excellence, with 11 fine songs that prove Diamond Rio is not just a vocal group, but a superior country band. Their picking is every bit as good as their vocal harmonies.
Diamond Rio - Greatest Hits
With their first number one hit, "Meet In The Middle," Diamond Rio demonstrated themselves to be an enormously talented group and a big asset to country music. This collection contains the best singles from their first four albums, as well as two new songs "How Your Love Makes Me Feel" and "Imagine That."
Diamond Rio - One More Day
In their eighth release (counting "Super Hits" released in 1999), since getting their start in 1991. While many groups change members over time, in the ten years between their debut album and this release, Diamond Rio still consists of Marty Roe, Jimmy Olander, Dan Truman, Brian Prout, Dana Williams and Gene Johnson.
Diamond Rio - Unbelievable
With their 6th CD, Diamond Rio has kept their Bluegrass harmonies and top notch instrumental abilities intact. The album contains two Top Ten Hits with "Unbelievable" and "You're Gone."
Dixie Chicks - Fly
Despite the daunting task of recording their sophomore album and hoping they would at least match the success of Wide Open Spaces, the gals really knocked one out of the ballpark with Fly. The album has gone on to sell over 9 million copies.
Dixie Chicks - Home
The album contains the Top 5 single, "Long Time Gone," as well as the beautiful covers of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," (set up to be the next single, and Bruce Robison's "Travelin' Soldier." Add to that a spirited instrumental named for Natalie's son, "Little Jack Slade," and you have another winning album.
Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces
The Dixie Chicks were originally a quartet that played mostly bluegrass and country classics. Dropping two of the members and adding Natalie Maines, and changing to contemporary country did the trick. The Chicks were off and running and haven't looked back, selling over 11 million copies of the album so far.
Dolly Parton - Little Sparrow
Little Sparrow is Dolly's second highly acclaimed bluegrass album and she received the Female Vocalist Grammy Award for the song "Shine." This is yet another example of Dolly's natural and diverse talent. She has gone back to her roots to record her last albums and they are Pure Country Gold.
Dolly Parton - The Grass Is Blue
This is one of Dolly's best albums, and it has received high praise for the choices of songs and the perfection of her performance.
Doug Stone - Doug Stone
This debut is one of the strongest you'll find, and is absolutely delightful. From beginning to end, Doug Stone delivers solid, real, heart-wrenching country music, of the sort that should never go out of style.
Dwight Yoakam - dwightyoakamacoustic.net
While not received well commercially, there is no doubt this disc is the best showcase for Dwight's considerable talents as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Of the 25 tracks on the disc, Dwight wrote (or co-wrote) every one of them with the sole exception of the Pomus/Shuman standard, "Little Sister."
Dwight Yoakam - Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.
On this disc are some of Dwight's most powerful self-penned songs, like the hauntingly beautiful "South of Cincinnati" & gripping "Twenty Years," as well as the tribute to his coal-miner grandfather, "Miner's Prayer." It also houses some fabulous covers, for in addition to "Honky Tonk Man" you'll find his sprightly cover of "Ring of Fire" and superb rendition of "Heartaches By The Number."
Dwight Yoakam - Hillbilly Deluxe
With his second album release, Dwight was ready to get out and prove himself as a real force to be reckoned with in the music biz. With a handful of self-penned songs and a few widely diverse covers, Dwight was prepared to show that his success as a "Honky-Tonk Man" was no accident, and he well deserved the "Best New Male Artist" that the ACM had presented him the
Dwight Yoakam - This Time
Dwight Yoakam hit his stride with the release of This Time. While his early years were sparked by a great deal of radio play and some excellent performances, all his artistic genius shines in this brilliantly crafted album of music.
Earl Scruggs & Friends - Earl Scruggs & Friends
Earl Scruggs And Friends is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. This album proves without a doubt that the old and the new music can peacefully co-exist and every once in a while join up to make the old familiar tunes refreshingly new again. BANJOS RULE!
Elvis Presley - Aloha From Hawaii
While most people tend to think of all of Elvis' '70s shows as bloated mockeries of the svelte "King of Rock 'n' Roll," it's a gross exaggeration. On January 14, 1973, when Elvis was beamed via satellite into billions of living rooms worldwide, he was a thin, dynamite, entertainment machine.
Elvis Presley - Blue Hawaii
In 1961, "Blue Hawaii" was made and became one of Elvis' biggest and best-loved movies. It also ushered in the beginning of the "Elvis Movie," the first of the beach-and-bikini-style films; but for all that, it remains the best of those, the most "real," despite the amount of music that was crammed into the film.
Elvis Presley - Elvis in Concert
This album is not a standout Elvis concert. What it is, however, is a vitally important piece of Elvis lore; a necessary slice of his overall history. People who loved only the young Elvis and despised what he became in this final year do themselves a disservice Elvis singing "You Gave Me A Mountain" is a majestic experience.
Elvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records
You know all these songs. You know you do. "Hound Dog." "Loving You." "All Shook Up." "Heartbreak Hotel." "Jailhouse Rock." It goes on. Elvis Presley was very much at the top of his game when RCA released this collection of songs in 1958.
Elvis Presley - G.I. Blues
With some of Elvis' best recordings of the early '60s, G. I. Blues is a terrific listen by itself, but the CD contains many alternative takes of all the best of the songs. With the delightful "Wooden Heart," the bluesy "Tonight's All Right For Love" and lovely, lyrical "Pocket Full Of Rainbows," it's simply a terrific listen.
Elvis Presley - Great Country Songs
This collection brings together songs spanning Elvis' career, from his smokin' cover of Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky" to his beautiful rendition of the classic "Always On My Mind," which was a big hit for Willie Nelson. Here on this disc you'll find Elvis singing Hank Williams' "Your Cheatin' Heart" and Eddie Rabbit's "Kentucky Rain."
Elvis Presley - Recorded at Madison Square Garden
On June 9, 1972, Elvis arrived in New York City for his four sold-out performances at Madison Square Garden. He was the first performer to sell out the Garden. Over the four shows, over 80,000 people watched. Captured here, this is Elvis when he was very much at the top of his game. This is the King of Rock 'n' Roll, the Mississippi hillbilly who knocked out the world, and here, New York City.
Elvis Presley - The Complete 50s Masters
In this collection you'll get Elvis' early rock recordings, such as "Shake, Rattle, And Roll," "When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again," "Maybelline," "Long Tall Sally," "Money Honey," and "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," there are also Elvis' spiritual gospel tracks "Peace in the Valley," "Take My Hand Precious Lord," and "I Believe."
Elvis Presley - The Complete 70s Masters
Elvis in the 70's had a richness, a fullness, a breathtaking quality that comes across powerfully in songs like "Take Good Care Of Her," "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me," "Separate Ways," "I Really Don't Want To Know," and the majestic "An American Trilogy." This is a 5-disc set is indeed, an "essential" part of any Elvis collection.
Elvis Presley - Viva Las Vegas / Roustabout
This two disc collection has terrific sound and packaging that make it worth purchasing for diehard Elvis fans.
Emerson Drive - Emerson Drive
For a group that toured for six years and finally landed in Nashville, only to play seven hours a night after four-hour rehearsals, "Emerson Drive" was a long time coming and boy did they ever hit it big with their self-titled debut on Dreamworks Records. Not only is it generally fun to listen to, you also hear the close bond between the group members in vocals and instruments played.
Eric Heatherly - Swimming In Champagne
Eric Heatherly stormed onto the country music scene with his hit cover of The Statler Brothers hit "Flowers On The Wall." The CD also includes the hit, "Wrong 5 O'Clock," and the silky smooth title cut.
Faith Hill - Breathe
To date, this is Faith's most successful album. With hits like the title track, "If My Heart Had Wings," "The Way You Love Me," and the duet with husband Tim McGraw, "Let's Make Love," this album has sold more than seven million copies.
Faith Hill - Cry
Faith Hill has gotten decidedly more of a pop diva with each successive album. The first two barely hinted at it while "Faith" and "Breathe" were knocking on the door. "Cry" is a full-blown pop album and aside from the sterling cast of songwriters, isn't very country sounding.
Faith Hill - Take Me As I Am
This is Faith's debut album, selling two times platinum. Along with the four singles that were released from this album, "Take Me As I Am," "Wild One," "But I Will," and Piece of my Heart, there are other great tunes, such as the touching duet with Larry Stewart, "I've Got This Friend," and the beautiful "I Would Be Stronger Than That."
Garth Brooks - Garth Brooks
Possessing four hit singles, Garth Brooks was the rare CD that was an instant success after its release. The biggest hits on the CD are the great ballads, "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and Garth's signature song, "The Dance."
Garth Brooks - No Fences
After the initial success with his self-titled debut, Garth pushed the boundries with pop-rock influences, but left in the country twang on songs like "Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House," and "Victim of the Game." He even shows his fun side with "Mr. Blue."
Garth Brooks -Garth Brooks & the magic of Christmas
This album was released in 2000, but added to the album in 2001 are three new songs from the upcoming TNT movie, Call Me Claus, starring Whoopie Goldberg. "Mary Had a Little Lamb," featuring Trisha Yearwood singing harmony. The title cut, which is a swinging big band number. The last is the fun "Zat You Santa Claus?"
Gary Allan - Alright Guy
Gary Allan gets better with each album that he releases. "Alright Guy" runs the gamut from songs about heartbreak and love ("The One") to songs about getting drunk, ripping his pants, and dancing with the bouncer that asked him to leave ("I'm Doing My Best"). He is doing his part to keep male country music aliv0 and doing a mighty fine job too.
Gary Allan - It Would Be You
Gary Allan first appeared on the country music radar in 1996 with his hit single "Her Man." Two years later Gary re-appeared with his second CD, It Would Be You. Containing the hit title track, the CD wasn't as big a success as Gary had h0ped yet there was evidence of a great talent starting to emerge when Decca Records was merged back into MCA Nashville.
Gary Allan - Smoke Rings in the Dark
From the opening title track to the touching closing song, "Greenfields," "Smoke Rings In The Dark" is a great collection of songs that you will find in your CD rotation constantly. Some of the highlights include the fifties pop sound of "Sorry,"0the masterful remake of the 60's classic, "Runaway," and the honest "Lovin' You Against My Will."
Gary Allan - Used Heart For Sale
With the diversity of songs, "Used Heart For Sale" is good introduction into the unique talents of vocalist Gary Allan. This CD should be in every fan's collection.
George Jones - The Rock: Stone Cold Country
This is another solid album from The Possum. George has a few friends joining him on this project. There is a rousing duet with Garth Brooks, you can hear the distinctive voice of Patty Loveless helping with background vocals and Stuart Duncan lends his fiddle and Mandolin skills.
Hal Ketchum - Lucky Man
On Lucky Man, his first CD of all new songs since 1998s "I Saw The Light," Hal has teamed up with friend and songwriter Rodney Crowell to produce his best CD yet. Hal teams up with Canadian songstress Lisa Brokop and the legendary Dolly Parton on two beautiful duets "Keep Mom And Dad In Love" and "Two Of The Lucky Ones.
Hank Williams - Alone With His Guitar
This CD is as the title says, "Hank Alone With His Guitar" The recordings of these songs are not session recordings, they are demo-type home recordings.
Hank Williams III - Lovesick, Broke & Driftin'
Showing that not only can Hank III sing as well as anybody out there (if not better), he can also write some of the greatest songs a person would ever have the pleasure of listening to. Out of thirteen total tracks, Hank wrote twelve, with the last one being a cover of Bruce Springsteen's song, "Atlantic City."
Heather Myles - Sweet Talk and Good Lies
Heather Myles has a take-charge, solid country voice of the sort not heard on country radio in over a decade. With a powerful alto that commands attention, Heather takes on honky-tonk country music with a muscle that only a very few female singers have dared.
Jack Ingram - Electric
When I listen to an album, I like diversity and this album definitely has it. You can hear the many facets of Jack Ingram throughout, and that is what I enjoy most from him. His ability to write and sing some of the greatest songs is absolutely unbelievable and he always has fresh material that the listeners will, no doubt, love.
Jack Ingram - Hey You
Jack Ingram is one of those artists that are hard to figure. Is he country? Is he a folk singer? Is he a rock and roll singer? The answer? He's all of them rolled into one concoction. The music is catchy and most important, like fellow Texan Pat Green, its pure fun
Jamie O'Neal - Shiver
Shiver is Jamie O'Neal's debut album. It may be our first listen to her as an artist, but it's not the first as a songwriter. O'Neal has written songs that were recorded by LeAnn Rimes, Chely Wright, and Tammy Cochran. She's also recorded background vocals on records by Mindy McCready, Clay Davidson, Jason Sellers, Chely Wright, Ronnie Milsap, Sonya Issacs and others.
Jeff Carson - Real Life
Jeff Carson has been around since 1995, although he has had quite the struggle in getting his career to take off. I do believe that this is "the magical one" for him because of the many hit songs on this album alone added to the success of his title cut, "Real Life."
Jenai - Cool Me Down
Jenai has a sassiness to her voice that echo's the best of the Judds and Raitt. It is almost as if Jenai is the lost Judd sister or daughter of Bonnie Raitt. There are some uptempo songs, (like "Cool Me Down," and "South Side Stomp"), and some soft tender ballads, (like "Written On My Heart" and "It Won't Be Me"), with all the emotion of Mandy Barnett and Trisha Yearwood.
Jennifer Hanson - Jennifer Hanson
Review of Jennifer's self-titled debut.
Jessica Andrews - Heart Shaped World
All of the songs on Heart Shaped World feature a 17-year-old whose talent is just beginning to bloom. She knows what she wants & she released an album that was just to her liking, & Byron Gallimore was happy to assist in the production. Instead of comparing this to other teens albums, we should compare it to an established artist's album because this collection is almost as good as it gets.
Jessica Andrews - Now
Here is Jennifer's review of Jessica's "Now" album.
Jessica Andrews - Who I Am
Who I Am is Jessica Andrews' sophomore release on DreamWorks Records, and even though the type of music is the same as on her debut album, this album deals with more mature topics. There are some fun songs also, but you can hear (as compared to her first album), that Jessica has grown up since Heart Shaped World was released
Jill King - Jillbilly
Review of Jill King's "Jillbilly."
Jo Dee Messina - Burn
Out of the eleven songs here, nearly all of them are either upbeat or mid-tempo, with the exception of the beautiful "Bring On The Rain" which Jo Dee sings with the help of Tim McGraw. This is a very empowering song that talks about everything going wrong, but even so, she says she's up to the task.
Jo Dee Messina - I'm Alright
Although not her debut album, this was the album that put JoDee on the charts with the #2 and #4 most played songs in 1998 with "Bye Bye," and "I'm Alright." When "Stand Beside Me" went to #1 for multiple weeks, JoDee became the first woman to have three consecutive multiple week #1s.
Jo Dee Messina - Jo Dee Messina
While the album is uneven in it's song selection, production and vocals, it does showcase the fiery talent that lied within Jo Dee that was realized on her second, and first platinum album, "I'm Alright." This CD is a good addition to any collector's collection, especially Jo Dee Messina fans.
Joe Diffie - Greatest Hits
Some of the better tracks include the sweet "So Help Me Girl," the fun "Pickup Man," Bigger Than The Beatles," the outlandish "Third Rock From The Sun" and the biographical "Home." With these songs and the other hits, it's a great introduction into the wonderful songs by Joe Diffie.
Joe Diffie - Honky Tonk Attitude
Joe Diffie is arguably one of the finest voices to have come out of the surge of neotraditionalist vocalists in the early 90's. In 1990, Joe brought us his debut, "Home," and his work simply improved from there. If you love real country music and the neotraditionalist sound, then pick up this album and get set for some true honky-tonkin' fun.
Joe Diffie - In Another World
Usually when a person releases any album that is higher than his fifth, the new and fresh ideas seem to dwindle, but that is not the case with "In Another World." Old and new fans alike should pick this one up and enjoy the "Honky-Tonk Attitude" and sentimental emotion found throughout.
Joe Diffie CD Review - Tougher Than Nails
This CD Review is from Jolene Downs. See what she has to say about Joe Diffie's "Tougher Than Nails."
John Berry - All The Way To There
For the first time since his pre-Capitol Records releases, the CD contains mostly songs written or co-written by John. The best tracks are "Settle For Everything," "He Makes Me Want Her Again," "How Much Do You Love Me" and "Eternally."
John Berry - Greatest Hits
From his first hit single "Kiss Me In The Car" to his last Capitol hit single, "She's Taken A Shine," John's tenure at Capitol cannot be considered anything but a success. Of the rest of this 12 track CD, the fine duet with Wynonna Judd, "We Can't Unmake Love," is the "hit that got away." Plus "Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye," "You And Only You," and "I Think About It All The Time."
John Michael Montgomery - Life's a Dance
With the three hugely successful singles and some stellar "filler" tracks, "Life's A Dance" is an impressive album for any artist, especially for a debut artist.
John Michael Montgomery - Love Songs
I gotta say, John Michael Montgomery has recorded some of the best country ballads around. The songs on this album are among some of the more popular wedding songs around. The lyrics are things everyone wants to hear from the one they love, and John Michael sings them with conviction.
Johnny Cash - 16 Biggest Hits, Vol. 2
Sony Music out of Nashville has released a compilation of 16 great hits from the legendary Johnny Cash. This is volume 2, having released another 16 hit compilation early in 1999.
Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around
After more than five decades of making tremendous music that can alternately touch, anger, inspire, and enlighten, Johnny Cash returns to the studio to present a new disc that is simply overwhelmingly full of heart and soul and pure emotion.
Johnny Cash - Hymns by Johnny Cash
Review of "Hymns by Johnny Cash."
Jolie & The Wanted - Jolie & The Wanted
With this collection of eleven songs, it is no surprise that Jolie has a voice that can appeal to many different audiences; she was also in a Rock and Roll band when she was younger and you can hear a little bit of it musically in a couple of the songs.
Josh Gracin - Josh Gracin
Review of Josh Gracin's self-titled debut album.
Julie Reeves - It's About Time
"Trouble Is a Woman" was a fun release about how people need to watch out for a woman that is scorned. It made it into the Top 40 on the Billboard charts. The beautiful song, "What I Need," let everyone hear her soft, sweet, and tender way of singing slower songs.
keith urban - Golden Road
If you enjoyed keith's self-titled debut, you'll love this collection of songs. He has more Top 5 material here, and the album is just something you can put on and totally enjoy at any time.
keith urban - keith urban
Formerly the lead singer for the group, The Ranch, keith goes solo here with songs such as "Where The Blacktop Ends," "It's a Love Thing," and his No. 1 song, "But For The Grace of God."
Kellie Coffey - When You Lie Next To Me
"When You Lie Next To Me" is Kellie Coffey's first CD and it is a good one. Sure it isn't traditional country but she fits nicely next to Lee Ann Womack, Sara Evans and even Faith Hill. Kellie even shares the same producer as Faith Hill. Vocally, Kellie has a sound reminiscent of Celine Dion meets Kathy Mattea. She also wrote seven of the eleven tracks.
Kenny Chesney - All I Need To Know
While "All I Need To Know" contains five hit singles, only three were hits from this album. His fans loved "Me And You" so much that Kenny and his label decided to release it as the title track from his second BNA album. The other song is "The Tin Man." originally the first single released while at Capricorn Records, the song was so dear to him that he re-recorded it not once but twice.
Kenny Chesney - Greatest Hits
Kenny Chesney's collection of hits that gives you 11 of his finest songs, two of them are remixed, one is a live version. Plus there are four new songs to sink your teeth into and realize that these too are destined to be future hits.
Kenny Chesney - I Will Stand
I Will Stand features the five singles which all were Billboard Top 10 hits. Two of the hits, "When I Close My Eyes," and "She's Got It All" were number one hits. The other singles are the classic, about realizing your faults, "That's Why I'm Here," "I Will Stand," and "A Chance."
Kenny Chesney - In My Wildest Dreams
Review of Kenny Chesney's In My Wildest Dreams album.
Kenny Chesney - No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems
No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems is Kenny's seventh release including his multi Platinum selling Greatest Hits album. Kenny continues to follow in the shoes of his buddy Tim McGraw in picking songs that are radio-friendly, and sure hits.
Kevin Denney - Kevin Denney
Kevin Denney's self-titled debut is sure to become an instant classic that will surely find Kevin up for some awards at the CMA and ACM awards.
Kevin Fowler - High on the Hog
Kevin Fowler is well known around Texas. He can write, he can sing, and he can play his guitar, but if there was one sentence I could say to sum it all up for you, I would say that his music is definitely fun to listen to.
Kevin Sharp - Measure of a Man
This is Kevin's debut album, and contains his hits "She's Sure Taking It Well," and "Nobody Knows."
Kim Richey - Collection
Review of Kim Richey's 'Collection' CD.
Kris Kristofferson - Songs of Kristofferson
The best songs on this CD are the ones which other people had hits with. "Me And Bobby McGee" and "Sunday Morning Coming Down" are two of them. Other highlights are "You Show Me Yours (And I'll Show You Mine)," "For The Good Times," and "The Silver Tongued Devil And I."
LeAnn Rimes - Blue
For LeAnn's debut album, she shows us that she truly can sing country music as pure as it comes. The title cut on the album, "Blue," sounds hauntingly like the late Patsy Cline. LeAnn has an amazingly pure voice and this song took radio by storm. The teenager was an instant favorite and was thrown into the limelight as we waited to find out what else she could do.
LeAnn Rimes - I Need You
This album is re-released with some additional mixes of some of the songs. There are re-mixes of "Can't Fight the Moonlight," "But I Do Love You," "Soon," and "I Need You." Besides these remixes there is the duet with Elton John, titled "Written In The Stars." Plus there is "Light The Fire Within," the song LeAnn performed in the Opening Ceremony of the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance
Lee Ann Womack won the 2001 CMA Female Vocalist Award. The title cut won the 2000 CMA for Song and Single of the Year. Also included on this album are "Why They Call It Falling," "Ashes By Now," and "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger."
Lee Ann Womack - Lee Ann Womack
"Never Again, Again" was the pure country song that introduced us to Lee Ann, while her 2nd single, "The Fool" went all the way to No. 1. "Buckaroo," which peaked at number twenty-eight, showcased the perky/fun side of Lee Ann as the video showed a little boy running around in between shots of her singing. A great sounding duet, "Make Memories With Me," has Mark Chesnutt as the guest vocalist.
Lila McCann - Lila
The first single was "Down Came A Blackbird." She had fun with songs like "I Wanna Fall In Love" and "Yippy Ky Yay." She gets a little more serious with "I'm Already Somebody's Lover." Contrary to the song's title, she is talking about it in a sense that she isn't ready for that commitment on a one-night stand basis.
Lonestar - Crazy Nights
Released in 1997 Crazy Nights was the second and final CD to feature the original Lonestar members. John Rich saw the writing on the wall when all but one single released from their debut featured his vocals, ("Heart Broke Every Day"). He and the rest of the band split with John now pursuing his own career, as a solo act.
Lonestar - I'm Already There
The fifth time was the charm for Lonestar. After being nominated for four previous years, they finally took the 2001 CMA Vocal Group award with this album, I'm Already There. The title track was a multi-week No. 1 hit, and was nominated for Song and Single of the year for 2001 as well.
Lonestar - Let's Be Us Again
Here's my review of Lonestar's latest album, "Let's Be Us Again," and view the cut by cut to see what the band has to say about the songs.
Lonestar - Lonely Grill
Lonestar had three albums out prior to Lonely Grill. This is the first release without lead singer John Rich, and they've done just fine. Better than fine. With the amazing chart topping "Amazed" which rocketed their popularity into the stratosphere, plus hits like "What About Now," "Tell Her," and "Smile," this album is a great choice for those wanting to experience what Lonestar is all about.
Lonestar - Lonestar
With their debut self-titled release, Lonestar showcased their brilliant talent with uptempo songs. Sure the band is now known for their ballads but they didn't used to be that way. Their first single was "Tequila Talkin'" a mid tempo track about a guy blaming tequila for his actions. The second single was another Top 10 hit, "Runnin' Away With My Heart."
Lonestar - This Christmas Time
Lonestar has given us a new Christmas album that will become a favorite for years to come. The album is filled with a mixture of old and new, from classic Christmas carols like "What Child is This," and "O Holy Night," to new ones like "This Christmas Time" co-written by bandmember, Dean Sams.
Loretta Lynn - Still Country
In Still Country we hear the continuing sound of the legendary performer, Loretta Lynn. Whether she's singing heart-rending ballads like "I Can't Hear The Music Anymore," or "Table For Two," or the uplifting "Country in my Genes," you never doubt where Loretta's heart is, and always will be... in true country music.
Mark Chesnutt - Greatest Hits
As soon as the first strum of the steel guitar on "Too Cold at Home" was over, an instant star emerged with the name of Mark Chesnutt. Labeled a "new traditionalist" by the country music press, Chesnutt didn't disappoint his fans. Releasing five albums before this CD, Chesnutt racked up ten big hits that are included in this package.
Mark Chesnutt - Mark Chesnutt
Mark's first album on Columbia Records is reminiscent of his previous releases in that the music is no-doubt-about-it traditional to the core. The album features the first single, "She Was," as well as other sure singles like "Don't Know Why I Do," "I Want My Baby Back," and the fun "My Dreams."
Mark McGuinn - Mark McGuinn
This album features a good mixture of up-tempo and touching, yet soaring ballads. Mark McGuinn's self-titled debut album is one CD that should be in every country music fan's collection.
Mark Wills - Permanently
There are plenty of good, soulful ballads on this album, but there are also several upbeat numbers as well. Mark can sing the heck out of a ballad, but he's certainly not limited in any way to only being a balladeer, as some critics have named him.
Mark Wills - Wish You Were Here
Mark Wills has made a name as a ballad singer. This album has some of his best ballads, the No. 1 songs, "Wish You Were Here," "I Do (Cherish You)," and "Don't Laugh At Me." The fourth single, "She's in Love" peaked at No. 7, still a respectible charting.
Martina McBride - Emotion
This album is filled with songs about strong women, and yes, different emotions. There is the single from the soundtrack to Runaway Bride, "I Love You," as well as the thoughtful "Love's The Only House," that makes you think about those that might not have the same advantages as you do. And then there is the beautiful "There You Are," sung as only McBride can do.
Martina McBride - Evolution
This album contained the hits "A Broken Wing," "Valentine," "Still Holding On," (the duet with Clint Black) "Happy Girl," and "Wrong Again."
Martina McBride - Greatest Hits Video Collection
Greatest Hits is a compilation of McBride's most popular videos and includes "Whatever You Say," "Independence Day," "Cheap Whiskey" and "The Time Has Come."
Martina McBride - Greatest Hits
After eight years and seven albums, Martina McBride has accumalated enough hits to have her own Greatest Hits collection. This collection includes 19 songs, four of which are brand new. And the new songs feel like they're old favorites soon after you've heard them a few times. They're certain to be included on future Greatest Hits compilations.
Martina McBride - White Christmas
When an artist releases a Christmas album, you never know if it will feature reworked songs or traditional ones. Everyone can listen to this album because of its traditional and more universal format. A perfect place for White Christmas would be playing in a compact disc or tape player while entertaining holiday guests, baking, or sipping some cider by a warm, crackling fire.
Mary Chapin Carpenter - Come On, Come On
Most of the songs on "Come On Come On" were hits, and most were written (or co-written) by Carpenter, with the exception of Lucinda Williams' throaty "Passionate Kisses" and Mark Knopfler's "The Bug," proof positive that a great rock song CAN make a great country song in the hands of the right artist.
Matt Lindahl CD Review - Adobe Trailer Motel
Review of Matt Lindahl's Adobe Trailer Motel.
Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster - Maverick
This 1994 movie stars Mel Gibson, Jodee Foster, & James Garner, reprising the role the James Garner made famous in the '50s tv series. Cameos by Clint Black, Hal Ketchum, Kathy Mattea, Vince Gill, Janis Gill, and Reba McEntire.
Meredith Edwards - Reach
Her first single, "A Rose Is A Rose," was popular on CMT, yet only made it to number thirty-seven on Billboard and her second release, "The Bird Song," made its way to forty-seven. A honky tonk beat can be found on the uptempo "Slow Learner" and "In Any Given Moment" you can hear her softer side as she sings about fate.
Merle Haggard - Oh Boy Presents Merle Haggard
Oh Boy Classic Records have been busy re-releasing some great material from the "Classic" artists. Many sound slightly different. He sang them just differently enough that if you were used to singing along with them you would be thrown off balance. However, maybe it isn't so bad to just sit back and listen instead of trying to sing along.
Merle Haggard - The Peer Sessions
For this album, Merle delved into the almost literal roots of country music. Merle has the perfect voice for singing these great songs. Some that stood out were "Peach Pickin' Time in Georgia," a song about wandering around the country looking for "peaches," & not the ones that are found on trees. Another song, "Hang On To The Memories," is a duet with Jimmie Davis.
Michael Peterson - Michael Peterson
Michael Peterson's debut disc wanders somewhat from real country to pop as he meanders from one extreme to the other, but with his sparkling vocals and pleasant lyrics, it's certainly a good listen.
Mike Clifford - All Night, All Day
This CD Review is from Jennifer Webb. See what she has to say about Mike Clifford's sophomore release, "All Night, All Day."
Montgomery Gentry - Carrying On
"Ain't gonna break, ain't gonna bend, we're just carrying on..." And Montgomery Gentry does just that with this sophomore album, packed full of the same type of country-rock tunes that won them accolades from the Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, and Billboard Records.
Montgomery Gentry - My Town
This is an album that is fun to listen to and will be something that will be played many times over. What I like about Montgomery Gentry is that they have such a rowdy image, yet they can still belt out songs like "Break My Heart Again." Expect the unexpected with these guys, and enjoy it all the way.
Montgomery Gentry - Tattoos and Scars
This album contains such popular songs as first single, "Hillbilly Shoes," "Lonely and Gone" (which made its way to #5 on the Billboard Charts), and "Daddy Won't Sell The Farm," a tale about the plight of farmers everywhere whose land is being bought to build modern day buildings with a "nonsensical" purpose.
Mutual Admiration Society - Mutual Admiration Society
This CD Review is from Jennifer Webb. See what she has to say about Glen Phillips and Nickel Creek's album "Mutual Admiration Society."
Nickel Creek - Nickel Creek
Ever wonder what would happen if you were to mix youthful energy and bluegrass? Nickel Creek would be the result. The three members of Nickel Creek consist of Chris Thile on mandolin and lead vocals, Sara Watkins on fiddle and lead vocals, and Sara's brother Sean on acoustic guitar and background vocals.
Nickel Creek - This Side
This Side is simply phenomenal and the listener can tell that the trio has evolved musically and is not afraid to try some new things. Alison Krauss is the producer, as she was on Nickel Creek, so you know that the quality is the best it could possibly be.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band -Will The Circle Be Unbroken 3
Thirty years after recording "Will The Circle Be Unbroken," the band reforms to do it all again. Although for some time the remaining members have been called simply The Dirt Band, they've restored their name & a number of original members, & come back to the circle, a circle which will remain unbroken as long as this music is remembered and cherished by these musicians and others like them.
O Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack
The soundtrack from the movie of the same name won the 2001 CMA Album of the Year award, and "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" received the 2001 CMA Single of the Year award. Plus two other songs were also nominated in the Vocal Event category. A wonderful introduction to traditional and bluegrass music.
Pam Tillis - Put Yourself in My Place
While country audiences were introduced to Pam as "Mel Tillis's daughter," Pam quickly made her own name and her own place in the country music hierarchy. With this first major release, Pam showed she had her own voice, as well. Quirky, sharp, vibrant; Pam demonstrated what a country female voice sounded like, and it still shines today.
Pam Tillis - Sweetheart's Dance
When Pam Tillis sings, it's hard not to take notice of her. She has a voice that is so well-suited to her choice of songs, with a delivery so poignant, that it's almost impossible not to stop and listen. Her phrasing, her passion, the warmth of her voice, and her album "Sweetheart's Dance" showcases those talents beautifully.
Pat Green - Three Days
Pat Green has independently sold two hundred thousand records and is just now hitting the big time with nationwide exposure on the Country Music channels. If you think that is a big achievement, imagine how much his sales are bound to increase with the album, Three Days.
Patsy Cline - 12 Greatest Hits
No one sings like Patsy Cline. She's got a voice that brings shivers down your back just listening to her emote her songs. This album includes 12 of her best known songs.
Patty Loveless - Classics
Featuring nine of Patty's hits, including three number one's with "You Can Feel Bad," "Lonely Too Long," and "Blame It On Your Heart." This is a wonderful collection of traditional country music.
Patty Loveless - Mountain Soul
Patty ventured into new territory in recording this album of rootsy bluegrass music. While not embraced by radio, her video for "The Boys are Back In Town" is a favorite on CMT.
Patty Loveless - When Fallen Angels Fly
Of the four singles released from this album, two of them were No. 1 hits, "Halfway Down" and "I Try To Think About Elvis." The other two top singles were "Here I Am" and "You Don't Even Know Who I Am." Every other track, along with the singles, are solid meat and potatoes country songs.
Pete Benz - Hold Your Horses
"Hold Your Horses" is Pete Benz's second album on the Sonic Sorbet label, his first (entitled "Hang On Cowboy") had such successful hits as "I Don't Wanna Dance This Song Again," "I've Been Blessed," and "Good Luck."
Phil Vassar - Phil Vassar
There was five singles released from the CD. Four of them were Billboard Top 10 hits with the other one being a Top 25 hit. The singles were "Carlene," "Just Another Day In Paradise," "Rose Bouquet," "Six Pack Summer" and "That's When I Love You." "Paradise" was a multi-week No. 1 in the spring of 2001 for Phil.
Pinmonkey - Pinmonkey
Pinmonkey spashed on the Nashville club scene not too long ago and quickly amassed a loyal following. That following lead to some word-of-mouth popularity which in turn lead to a "bidding war" by Nashville's major labels to sign the band. While they signed with BNA, they released "Speak No Evil" to rave reviews.
Radney Foster - Another Way To Go
Writing and co-writing every song on an album is no small feat, and not only did Radney do just that, but every single note and lyric is the work of a genius. The country music history book definitely has a place for him.
Radney Foster - Are You Ready For The Big Show?
Recorded at The Continental Club in Austin, Texas on September twenty-first and twenty-second of 2001, "Are You Ready For The Big Show?" showcases the intimate setting of a live performance. It has some crowd reaction at the end of a few songs but unlike other live albums this one focuses soley on the music and vocals instead of mostly crowd reaction and participation.
Ralph Stanley - Ralph Stanley
This album is a true musical treasure from a living legend. Ralph has a voice that is pure and haunting and does great justice to the type of songs he chose for this album. It is easy to see why he was awarded two Grammy's at age 75 for his contribution to the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack.
Randy Travis - Storms of Life
From the first track, the powerful true country strains of the almost-cheatin' song "On The Other Hand," Randy's brilliance with a song shines on this album. Lesser-known tracks such as the title song, "The Storms of Life," "No Place Like Home," and the two self-penned tracks, "Send My Body" and "Reasons I Cheat," also amply demonstrate Randy's simple, yet breathtaking, appeal.
Rascal Flatts - Melt
After their debut album sold Platinum, the guys released Melt, which has debuted at No. 1 on the Country Album charts. The first single, "These Days," is sitting at No. 3 on the Billboard singles charts as of this week, and sure to rise higher. This success is surely one of the reasons Rascal Flatts won the coveted Horizon award this year.
Rascal Flatts - Rascal Flatts
This hot new group with the killer harmonies comes via Lyric Street Records. Members include Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney, and Jay DeMarcus. This is their self-titled debut album, and includes the hits, "Praying For Daylight," "Everyday Love," and "While You Loved Me."
Reba McEntire - Greatest Hits III: I'm a Survivor
During a career that has lasted twenty plus years and is still going strong, you tend to collect a lot of hits. Thus, here is Reba's Greatest Hits III collection, and it's got three new songs along with all the hits you know and love.
Reba McEntire - If You See Him
From the opening line of the duet with Brooks & Dunn to the closing track All This Time," Reba's If You See Him is one of the best CDs she has ever released. Containing four Top 10 singles, this CD continued Reba's amazing run of chart success from the 70s to the present.
Reba McEntire - Read My Mind
One of the most successful Country Music singers ever, Reba McEntire is now know by one name, Reba. The CD, Read My Mind was released in 1994 after her wildly successful Greatest Hits Volume II album. It has the hits "She Thinks His Name is John," "Why Haven't I Heard From You," "And Still," "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter," and the beautiful "Till You Love Me."
Reba McEntire - Whoever's in New England
With the release of this Album, Reba was soon a household name and started headlining her own shows. She can sing a love ballad with enough feeling to bring tears to your eyes. She can dish out the ultimatums to the "other woman" like no one else.
Rebecca Lynn Howard - Rebecca Lynn Howard
Of the songs, the bluesy "Out Here In The Water," the beautiful ballads, "I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners" and "Melancholy Blue" stand out. Having had written songs for other artists prior to this release, most notably John Michael Montgomery, it's not surprising that Rebecca wrote 10 of the 12 tracks on this CD.
Rhett Akins - Friday Night in Dixie
While you'd think that an independently produced CD wouldn't sound as good as one with a bigger budget, Rhett was able to make his best CD yet, sonically and lyrically. There isn't a bad track on the whole CD. There are some uptempo rockers like the title track and "Highway Sunrise" and some smooth ballads like "In Your Love" to the acoustic version of his first hit, "That Ain't My Truck."
Rhett Akins - Somebody New
While none of Rhett's Decca CDs were blockbusters, Somebody New shows where Rhett was heading before he lost his record deal two years later, due to Decca's closure. The centerpiece of the CD is Rhett's smash Billboard No. 1, "Don't Get Me Started." However, there is more to the CD including the western swing of "Too Much Texas" to the smooth, yet stone country sound of "Carolina Line."
Rhett Akins A Thousand Memories
When you add up the hit singles with the six other solid tracks, Rhett Akins' "A Thousand Memories" is a CD that was a great album to launch a solid career from. If you like his latest release or any of the singles he's released, go ahead and pick up this album, you will be happy that you did.
Rhonda Vincent - The Storm Still Rages
Rhonda's voice is out there and full of sassy confidence, but not in a harsh sort of way. Darren Vincent sings background vocals to add harmonies that only families could produce, which adds to an already perfect album. With the video for "I'm Not Over You" playing many times on country music channels, maybe Rhonda can be the next Alison Krauss and take bluegrass to the radio airwaves.
Ricky Skaggs and Friends - Big Mon
The Big Mon album is a tribute to Bill Monroe. Not only did Ricky Skaggs play or sing in almost all of these tribute songs, he produced the whole thing too. Each song sounds so fitting for the artist(s) that sing them that you would think they were written especially for them.
Ricochet - Ricochet Live
Review of Ricochet Live from Ricochet.
Ricochet - Ricochet
With it's nice mixture of harmonies with a group that actually plays their instruments, Ricochet's self-titled debut is a nice addition to any collection.
Robert Earl Keen - Gravitational Forces
Gravitational Forces" is Robert Earl Keen's ninth album and is his debut on the Lost Highway Record Label. President George W. Bush, along with his twin daughters have listed this man as one of their favorite singers.
Roger Wallace - The Lowdown
Roger Wallace is one of Austin's finest voices, and in a town that is virtually bursting with talent, that's quite an honor. With his singular, unique approach to his music, Wallace manages to be completely new while at the same time never forgetting for one moment country's pure, golden roots.
Ronnie Milsap - 40 #1 Hits
This two-cd collection contains his original recordings, beginning in 1974 with "Pure Love," and running through his last No. 1 hit, a remake of the Skyliners "Since I Don't Have You." But if 40 #1 songs wasn't enough, Ronnie gives us two new tunes to fall in love with as well.
Royal Wade Kimes - A Dying Breed
This CD Review is from Kathy Coleman. See what she has to say about Royal Wade Kimes latest release.
Royal Wade Kimes - Cowboy Cool
Cowboy Cool – Royal Wade Kimes
Sammy Kershaw - Feelin' Good Train
"Feelin' Good Train" is the fourth album released by Sammy Kershaw, and like his previous works, the quality in the songs is spectacular and they sound as if they were hand picked to be performed by him.
Sammy Kershaw - Haunted Heart
Haunted Heart showed Kershaw coming into his own as a vocalist. Just as important, he was choosing songs that set him apart from the pack. Included here are "Queen of my Double Wide Trailer," and "She Don't Know She's Beautiful."
Sammy Kershaw - I Want My Money Back
Review of Sammy's "I Want My Money Back."
Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. - Hope Floats
Sandra Bullock plays a homemaker who never strived to be anything more than a prom queen, and suddenly finds her husband is leaving her for her best friend. She goes home to her mother with her young daughter and tries to move on.
Sara Evans - Born To Fly
The mixture of songs here is great. Sara has up-tempo songs as well as ballads. It's not overly heavy on either style, and neither are the songs preachy, or cutesy. I think Sara's got a real winner with this release.
Sara Evans - Three Chords & the Truth
This is an absolutely spectacular country album. No matter what you may think about the pop sounds that Evans eventually adopted, this album is worth getting and listening to over and over again
Sawyer Brown - Can You Hear Me Now
Sawyer Brown is releasing the 18th album of their 20-year career. It is released by Curb Records and is called, "Can You Hear Me Now." It has classic Sawyer Brown sound on each and every track. Mark Miller wrote or co-wrote six of the ten tracks.
Shania Twain - Come On Over
This is Shania's most popular and best-selling CD with hits like "Man, I Feel Like a Woman!," "You're Still The One," "That Don't Impress Me Much," and "You've Got a Way" have made this album the #1 selling album anywhere with over 14 million copies sold.
Shania Twain - The Woman In Me
Shania's second album broke down all the doors of stardom for the singer, selling over four million copies by the beginning of 1996. The album contains hits "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under," "Any Man Of Mine," "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here," "You Win My Love," and more.
Shannon Lawson - Chase The Sun
Here is Matt's review of Shannon's debut album, "Chase the Sun."
SHeDAISY - Brand New Year
The sisters Osborn have created a very unique Christmas package which includes their hit Christmas tune from last year, Deck The Halls, which was featured in the Disney animated film, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, and adds 13 more Christmas songs, both old and new. Each one is SHeDAISY-fied as only they can do.
SHeDAISY - Knock on the Sky
"Knock On The Sky," as a whole, is about relationships and things not working out the way they were supposed to. There are some about being happy in love, but listening to Kristyn's lyrics, whether solely written by her or co-written with others, you can tell she knows what she is talking about when it comes to lost love.
SHeDAISY - The Whole SHeBANG
The sisters Osborne, Kelsi, Kassidy, and Kristyn were the first country act to debut at the number one spot on Billboard Magazine's Heatseeker's album chart, they have also performed for two President - Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. This is their debut album, and it contains such hits as "Little Goodbyes," "I Will...But," and "This Woman Needs."
SHeDAISY CD Review - Sweet Right Here
Review of 'Sweet Right Here' from SHeDAISY.
Sonya Isaacs - Sonya Isaacs
If I had to describe Sonya Isaacs' album and voice, I would simply say "Wow." At times, she sounds like a mixture of Patty Loveless and Sara Evans, but yet still unique in her own right. The whole album is lovely and very well put together.
Statler Brothers - Showtime
"Showtime" is comprised entirely of new material. The Reid brothers and their families are responsible for writing or co-writing all but two of the new songs. Jimmy Fortune wrote one of the remaining songs & Steve Wariner contributed to the last song. So there are some very strong songs on this album. It is almost entirely comprised of ballads & is a dream album for the ballad lover.
Steve Azar - Waitin' On Joe
With a decidedly uptempo collection of songs, Steve Azar is one of those artists who doesn't need to sing a ballad to get on the radio. He's more of a country rock artist than a contemporary country singer, which there isn't enough of in Nashville these days.
Steve Holy - Blue Moon
It took until his fourth single, but Steve Holy attained his first number one hit. Not only was "Good Morning Beautiful" a hit, it was a multi-week No. 1 hit on Billboard's Country chart. From his first single, "Don't Make Me Beg," to his second, "Blue Moon," to his third, "The Hunger," Steve Holy was consistently seeing his singles go farther up the charts.
Suzy Bogguss - Aces
Suzy had help from Vince Gill, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Mark O'Connor on this strong outing which includes the wonderful title track, "Letting Go," "Someday Soon," and "Outbound Plane."
Tammy Cochran - Tammy Cochran
With a powerful voice and touching singles, Tammy Cochran releases her self-titled debut album. Included here is the touching song written for her brothers that both lost the fight to Cystic Fibrosis, "Angels in Waiting."
Tanya Tucker - Tanya
"Tanya" is the 1st album release in 5 years from country legend Tanya Tucker. It is the first release on her own label, Tuckertime Records. It was produced by fiancé and singer/songwriter Jerry Lassiter. He joins Tanya on several songs, & you can hear the chemistry the two of them have. Vince Gill also joins Tanya as a guest vocalist on a song.
Terri Clark - Fearless
Terri has mentioned several times that this is her most "personal" album yet. She co-wrote 8 of the 12 songs here. While there are no tracks that I dislike, I will say that the album is rather ballad-heavy. Most of the songs are either ballads or mid-tempo tunes, with only one upbeat song, "To Tell You Everything."
Terri Clark CD Review - Greatest Hits
Review of Terri Clark's Greatest Hits CD.
Terri Clark - Just The Same
This album has a lot of slow songs with a few fun ones thrown in. She enjoyed a heavy amount of airplay with "Emotional Girl" and "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me." These songs were great at telling the women that they are in charge of their own destinies. "Something in the Water" is an old-fashioned ballad that almost makes you want to grab the box of tissues. "Any Woman" is also a great ballad.
Terri Clark - Pain To Kill
Here is Jo's review of Terri Clark's "Pain To Kill" album.
The Kinleys - Just Between You And Me
Jennifer and Heather Kinley have voices that are just meant to be out there and available for public listening. The twins share a special ability to harmonize perfectly, without all the jazzing up that the gals of SHeDAISY do. They are simple and effective and this is the album that showcases that fact.
The Kinleys - Kinleys II
From the first track, She Ain’t The Girl For You," to the very last "Somebody‘s Out There Watching," this CD will keep you listening just to hear what comes next. You’ll be tapping your toes and singing aloud to the hilarious tongue-in-cheek songs like "Lovers," "That’s Gonna Mess You Up," and "Yeah Yeah Yeah."
The Wilkinsons - Nothing But Love
In the tradition of the Carter Family, The Wilkinsons came on to the Country Music scene as a father, son and daughter trio. Hailing from Canada, they were instantly noted for their crystal clear harmonic vocals. Father Steve is the writer of the group while bluesy Amanda sings most of the lead vocals. Tyler, the youngest is mainly a harmony singer.
Tift Merritt - Bramble Rose
With the songs about love, faith, friendship and compassion, Tift Merritt's "Bramble Rose" is one fine CD that showcases what kind of artistry is on the fringes of country music.
Tim McGraw - A Place In The Sun
Continuing in the tradition of his last album, Everywhere, McGraw comes up with another winner, spawning four No. 1 singles with "My Best Friend," "Please Remember Me," "Something Like That", and "My Next Thirty Years."
Tim McGraw - Everywhere
While it wasn't the album that contained his first #1 song, it was the one that skyrocketed Tim McGraw into the country music stratosphere. With six #1 songs, including "It's Your Love," which spent six weeks at the top of the charts, this was the album that really made Tim McGraw a household name.
Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits
Tim released his Greatest Hits package at the end of 2000, & even without additional tracks this CD was named the top album of 2001, selling 2 million copies. Nearly all of McGraw's hits are contained here, yet without new material, this is for someone just getting to know his work, or die hard fans that must have everything he's released.
Tim McGraw - Greatest Video Hits Collection
The Grammy-award winning talent is shown in all of his hit videos, including "Indian Outlaw," "Please Remember Me," "It's Your Love," and "Down on the Farm." There are nine videos in all.
Tim McGraw - Not a Moment Too Soon
When "Indian Outlaw" was released, it became a smash hit song. There was some controversy about the lyrics which further made Tim a recognizable artist. His second single was "Don't Take The Girl." Featuring a memorable set of lyrics that talk about a guy's struggles throughout his life, the song became a multi-week number one hit.
Tim McGraw - Set This Circus Down
Tim McGraw has won the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year several years, but until 2001, the Entertainer of the Year award eluded him. This album contains "The Cowboy in Me," "Grown Men Don't Cry," and "Angry All The Time."
Toby Keith - Christmas To Christmas
This collection of Christmas songs includes 12 recordings, several written by Toby himself. The album was released back in 1995, and the songs range from thoughtful, ("Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus,") to a Christmas love song, ("Blame It On The Mistletoe,") and the playful ("Hot Rod Sleigh."
Toby Keith - Greatest Hits, Vol. 1
Toby wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 14 tracks on the CD. The only songs Toby didn't write were his duet with Sting "I'm So Happy That I Can't Stop Crying," "We Were In Love," and "A Little Less Talk, A Lot More Action." Every track on here was also a Top 10 hit.
Toby Keith - Pull My Chain
"Pull My Chain" comes on the heels of his highly successful "How Do You Like Me Now!?" album, which produced two number one songs and his very first awards (two: Top Male Vocalist and Album of the Year). With a total of thirteen top ten singles and five gold or platinum albums in only six years makes a person wonder why he was overlooked for all of those award shows that take place.
Toby Keith - Toby Keith
Toby shines on this solid debut. He single-handedly wrote 8 of the 10 tracks, including the greatest of the hits and the finest of the tracks, such as the beautiful "Mama Come Quick" and the lighthearted, fun "Close But No Guitar." Toby waited a long time for recognition from the industry; but for my money, this was what should have made them stand up and take notice.
Toby Keith - Unleashed
The mix of beautiful slow songs and catchy up tempos remains a fixture on his albums and the wonderful songs, all either written or co-written by Toby can touch your heart ("Rock You Baby") or get you up and moving "Good To Go To Mexico"), and that is what music really is about - emotion.
Tommy Shane Steiner - Then Came The Night
Tommy Shane Steiner's debut single "What If She's An Angel" instantly became a hit. The song made the whole Country Music genre stand up on its ear and take notice. Other standout tracks include the second single "Tell Me Where It Hurts," the Anthony Smith penned "The Mind of John J. Blanchard" the duet with Randy Travis "I Don't Need Another Reason" and "Let Go."
Tony Furtado - These Chains
Review of 'These Chains' from Tony Furtado.
Tony Stampley - Rebelation
To classify Tony's music is easy. It's "country as cornbread." There is not one single "poptry" song on the CD or is their a song that doesn't have a fiddle, mandolin, or steel guitar on it. The uptempo songs rock and the ballads are straight out of the school of Keith Whitley and Randy Travis and Conway Twitty.
Trace Adkins - Chrome
There is a good mix of traditional, up-tempo and fun in this al0um. Along with "I'm Tryin'" we also hear songs like "Help Me Understand" and "Once Upon A Fool Ago" that are traditional country to the core. With "Thankful Man" and "And Then There Was You," we get some up-tempo music to tap our toes to.
Tracy Lawrence - Lessons Learned
Tracy Lawrence albums are one-hundred percent guaranteed to be pure country with no pop sound involved anywhere. This one would instantly become a favorite to any fan who purchases it, and would more-than-likely be played to the point of wearing it out and having to buy a new one.
Tracy Lawrence - Sticks & Stones
Tracy's powerful delivery shines on the title track, a love-gone-wrong song; he sings for the hard-working with "Somebody Paints the Wall," sorrow dripping in every note. "Runnin' Behind" speaks to everyone who just can't seem to get things together. Each song is a delight, though, not just the hits that showed Tracy was a talented force to be reckoned with.
Tracy Lawrence - Tracy Lawrence
Every song on this album could be a great single in that fans can listen and relate to the situations, whether they be sad or extremely happy. Tracy Lawrence's music is plain old good, and nobody can deny that.
Travis Tritt - Country Club
The album contains ballads such as "Drift Off To Dream," but the lesser-known cuts are every bit as good as the 3 major singles it released. "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" and "Son of the New South" amply showcase Travis Tritt's growling, gritty voice, and "Put Some Drive in Your Country" and "Sign of the Times" demonstrate his masterful songwriting ability.
Travis Tritt - Down The Road I Go
Travis Tritt is well-known for his rockin' country favorites, and this album has a mixture of those attitude-infused favorites, along with several beautiful ballads like "Best of Intentions," and "Love of a Woman."
Travis Tritt - Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof
Travis was hitting his stride as an artist when he released '10 Ft. Tall and Bulletproof.' From the delightful humor of the title track, which discusses just how silly a man can get under the influence of alcohol, to the deeply heartfelt "Foolish Pride," Travis cracks open the shell of what country music is and he bares heart and soul.
Trick Pony - Trick Pony
Trick Pony is a unique name for a unique group that produces a unique, high energy sound. It is made up of Heidi Newfield, Ira Dean and Keith Burns. All three share the duties of lead vocals, write their own music, and all play instruments.
Trisha Yearwood - Hearts in Armor
In 1992, Trisha Yearwood released her sophomore album, Hearts in Armor, and with the first listen you knew she was bound for stardom. This collection of ten emotional songs and Trisha's undeniably beautiful vocals, make it a must for every collection.
Trisha Yearwood - Inside Out
On this new album Trisha performs songs that show off the voice that won her both ACM and CMA Female Vocalist honors. She also has some help from Don Henley on the title track, and Rosanne Cash on the classic hit that Rosanne wrote and performed in the early 80s, "Seven Year Ache."
Trisha Yearwood - Songbook: A Collection of Hits
This album was released in 1997 and has sold 2 million copies so far, and for good reason. It includes 12 songs, nine of her best known hits, like "Song Remembers When," "Thinkin' About You," & "XXXs and OOOs (American Girl)," & adds 3 new songs, a duet with Garth Brooks, "In Another's Eyes," "Perfect Love," and the theme from Con-Air, which won her a Grammy, "How Do I Live."
Trisha Yearwood - The Sweetest Gift
Trisha Yearwood has one of the most powerful, and beautiful voices in country music. She can sing any style of music, and do it well. This Christmas release is very traditional, in arrangement, and style.
Trisha Yearwood - Trisha Yearwood
The first single from this set was the instant classic "She's In Love With The Boy." Racing up the charts in 1991, this song quickly helped to establish Trisha Yearwood as one of the premier vocalists in any genre of music. The follow up singles all garnered Top 10 status.
Trisha Yearwood - Where Your Road Leads
This album contains the title track, which is a duet with Garth Brooks. Trisha also dishes up some romance of her own with "I'll Still Love You More," and "Powerful Thing."
Ty Herndon - This Is Ty Herndon: Greatest Hits
With three new songs and other great tracks from Ty's four previous albums, "This Is Ty Herndon: Greatest Hits" is a wonderful collection that is sure to impress even the smallest of country music fans.
Ty Herndon - What Mattered Most
Ty is one of the rare artists that have had their debut single hit No. 1 on Billboard's "Hot Country Singles" chart. His following single was the duet with Stephanie Bentley. With the title of "Heart Half Empty," the song became an instant hit. The third, and final, single from the CD was the wonderful "I Want My Goodbye Back."
Various - Dressed in Black
Some of the best of the best real country and Americana artists came together on this disc to honor the Man in Black, who has for a full five decades forged a trail through music, defying genre and style to become a Legend, loved by rock and country and blues fans equally, known and respected by anyone who ever picked up a guitar, sat down at a piano, or fiddled with a bow.
Various - O Sister 2
O Sister 2 continues what was started with O Sister. It continues to take an in-depth look at the many talented female performers over the past few decades in the field of Bluegrass music. Up until recently, when Alison Krauss more or less opened the door for mainstream female talent, you would almost never see a woman on the stage at a Bluegrass show.
Various Artists - 20 Classic Gospel Songs of the Century
Review of 20 Classic Gospel Songs of the Century.

Various Artists - Christmas Cookies
This package from MCA records includes selections from everyone from George Strait, Chely Wright, The Mavericks, Lee Ann Womack, George Jones, and Gary Allen to standards like "Holly Jolly Christmas" from Burl Ives, and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" from Brenda Lee. Something here for everyone.
Various Artists - Coal Miner's Daughter
The motion picture based on the autobiography of Loretta Lynn, who was played by Sissy Spacek to perfection. Sissy also does all the singing on the album as well. Beverly D'Angelo, who played Patsy Cline has a few cuts on the soundtrack, and she does a fine job as Patsy.
Various Artists - Come Together
Collin Raye's version of McCartney's "Let It Be" sounds as good as the original does while Delbert McClinton's rockin' version of "Come Together" is simply inspiring. Little Texas takes "Help!" and makes it into a harmonic beauty.
Various Artists - Common Thread
Other artists included on the tribute are Little Texas, John Anderson, Alan Jackson, Suzy Bogguss, Diamond Rio, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Dean, Tanya Tucker, Brooks & Dunn and Lorrie Morgan. If you've grown up with the Eagles music, and you enjo
