Guide Review - Anthony Michael James - Old Friends
If anyone were well-suited to lead a country career, itd be Anthony Michael James. Hes been many things in his life; a mechanic, electrician, Steel Beam High Burner, and his current profession of Fireman. From Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Anthony has the kind of voice that touches the heart.Leading off the record is Anthonys second single, a lyrical and melodic gem Sweet Sarah. Its a song that finds a man happily in the moment with the woman he loves, even years later after she has passed away. Its a song about eternal love. Steel Stampede is sung with the country/rock swagger that Chris LeDoux sings with. It is a fun truckin song. Fans of James Taylor will enjoy the smooth, breezy feel of Flesh And Bone. Its a simple song that says we all make mistakes. One of the best songs Ive heard in years is the title track and center-piece of this CD. Old Friends is piano and strings song that shouldve been a big hit. The lyric tells of how we have friends along the path of life only to move on. After School tells the true story of young love, in elementary school and then in high school (the girl that he met back then). Its kind of like Check Yes Or No.
Anthony Michael Jamess Old Friends is a wonderful debut album. While only 10 tracks long, the lyrics and melodies remain in the brain long after the final track has played. Fans of earthy country/pop will find something to like on this mandolin and fiddle filled record.
