Guide Review - Brad Cotter - Patient Man

When Brad Cotter won the Nashville Star competition, I knew I wanted to review the album he would put out. I had heard several cuts from his independent release, and am happy to see some of them here.

Of the ten songs on the album, Brad co-wrote five of them. The first single, "I Meant To," looks back on things in a person's life, and thinking how they always meant to do certain things, but they never happened.

The title cut is a mid-tempo tune about knowing what you want and being patient enough to wait for things to happen.

"I Miss Me" is my favorite track. It talks about a guy that broke up with his girlfriend and he misses not only her, but himself, for he isn't the person he used to be when they were together.

The upbeat Southern Rock-inspired "Rock and Roll in the Hay" is a fun summer tune, talking about having a party in the country which includes skinny dippin' in the lake and rockin' and rollin' in the hay.

Another favorite of mine is "Can't Tell Me Nothin'," which was also on Travis Tritt's "Strong Enough" CD. It talks about how he may know things aren't good to do, but he's gotta do everything his own way, because no one can tell him nothin'.

"I Came Here To Live" is a song about looking for something better. He sings "I ran the streets to beat the devil, going as fast as I could fly, 'cause I came here to live. I didn't come here to die."

If you like your country with a little bit of rock and a little bit of soul, Brad's CD is what you've been looking for. Pick it up.
