In 2012, Dwight Yoakam returned with
3 Pears, his first collection of new songs since
Blame the Vain. This swampy cut is strung out on high-wire guitar and murky lyrics about heartbreak (I think). It's a glorious exercise in atmosphere that's the sonic analogue of "Dim Lights, Thick Smoke," another album highlight. The spirit of
Buck Owens is still with us.
