Each year, country music puts out some outstanding albums. Your AboutCountry Guide Shelly Fabian gives us her choices for the Top 10 Albums for 2006.
Craig has been a favorite of mine since he first came out. My favorite track is probably the final one,
"Look at 'em Fly," which talks about how it's important to appreciate the little things, and tell people how you feel, cuz time goes by fast.
"The Song" is another track that really stands out. Not that there are ANY here that are less than stellar. Great work, Craig.
I've loved every Nashville Star winner, but Chris is definitely my favorite. He's a great songwriter, emotive singer, and talented performer, as well as an all-around super nice person. There's not a bad song on this album.
I haven't listened to this as much as some of the other albums on my list, but I love Keith, and what I've heard is excellent and definitely belongs on my Top 10 list.
As much as I loved
Long Black Train, I think Josh really has a fantastic album here. Hey.. it's gone platinum already, so there are at least 999,999 people out there that agree with me. I like that he's a little more playful, as in the title track, and
"Loretta Lynn's Lincoln." There's still several more songs that I think will be great singles.
This is another album that I gotta recommend. It may not be a million seller, as it's put out by Cracker Barrel. But, it's got some great artists on here singing fantastic songs. What I like most is that this isn't your same old tired compilation album where they took the artist's latest hit and put it on an album. These are all brand new recordings by the artists that did NOT originally record them. Great stuff!
Ahhhh... Rockie. I just love Rockie. He's got an awesome voice, and a sweet personality. I still don't understand why his singles don't do better on the charts. Every one of these tracks is great!
It seems like forever since Sugarland's first album came out. This is definitely worth the wait. No matter than they are a duo, not a group any longer. The music is still great! Jennifer has a killer voice, and Kristian is so likeable. They wrote all the songs on the disc, and they're all winners.
I love Emerson Drive. They have some of the best harmonies out there, and Brad Mates voice is incredible. My favorite song has to be the upcoming single,
"Moments." The story of this song is so touching. You have to listen to the third verse to figure it all out, but it's very powerful. This album also includes a fun version of
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" which features Charlie Daniels himself.
I heard a couple of his songs in concert earlier in the year, so I knew 'Dangerous Man' was going to be a great disc. I'm also glad he didn't go the "ditty" route, with a bunch of "Badonkadonk" songs on here. I mean, nothing against that song, but I love Trace best when he's singing his heart out, not singing about someone's butt. ;)
Like Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins is all about music that reflects who he is as a person. Although he didn't write the title track, he could relate to it. The second single,
"Watching You," was written about a real event that happened with his son, Elijah, and it's turning into another big hit. There's lots of other great music here too.
