Top 8 CMA 2004 Winners

The Country Music Association Awards are the most prestigious of all the awards a country music artist can aquire. If an album or artist or song won a CMA award, you can be sure the music is some of the best the industry has to offer. The albums below are from award winning artists and groups from the 2004 CMA Awards.

1. Keith Urban - Be Here

One of the biggest shocks of the 2004 CMA Awards was when Keith Urban won the CMA Male Vocalist Award. He was so shocked, and genuinely humbled. "Be Here" is Keith's latest release, which contains the #1 single, "Days Go By."

2. Martina McBride - Martina

This was the third year in a row that Martina has been named Female Vocalist of the Year. She has won the award a total of four times, and is tied with Reba McEntire for the most wins in the category. Her self-titled "Martina" contains the popular hits "This One's for the Girls," "In My Daughter's Eyes," as well as the song she sang on the show, "God's Will."

3. Kenny Chesney - When the Sun Goes Down

In 12 Years, Kenny Chesney had never won a CMA Award until this year, his first was for Album of the Year for "When The Sun Goes Down," and the second for the big award of the night, "Entertainer of the Year." The album contains "I Go Back," (#2) "The Woman With You" (Currently #6) "There Goes My Life," (#1), and the title track (#1).

4. Rascal Flatts - Feels Like Today

This was Rascal Flatts second time winning the CMA Group of the Year Award. Their album "Feels Like Today" contains the #1 title cut as well as "Bless the Broken Road," which they performed on the CMA show.

5. Brooks & Dunn - Greatest Hits 2

It's twelve wins for Brooks & Dunn, who have held the honor every year since 1992, with the exception of 2000. They have the record for the most wins in this category. Their latest album, "Greatest Hits 2" contains "That's What It's All About," (#2 this week), and the song they performed on the show, "It's Getting Better All the Time."

6. Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

The title track to Tim's latest CD won the awards for Single and Song of the Year. The album contains the No. 1 title cut, as well as "Back When" (#7 this week).

7. Gretchen Wilson - Here for the Party

Gretchen Wilson was the front runner for the CMA Horizon Award, and she did indeed take home the award. In her touching speech, she said that she felt guilty taking home such a nice present on her daughter Gracie's 4th birthday. She performed "When I Think About Cheating" from her triple platinum album, "Here for the Party," which also contains the #1 track, "Redneck Woman," and the #3 title cut.

8. Brad Paisley - Mud on the Tires

Brad Paisley was nominated for Single, Song, Vocal Event, and Video for his duet with Alison Krauss, "Whiskey Lullaby." The song won for both Vocal Event and Video of the Year. The album contains "Celebrity" (#3) "Little Moments," (#2) the title cut (currently #17), and "Whiskey Lullaby" (#3).
