Jo Dee was born in Framingham, Massachusetts. During her teens, she sang in country bands in New England. By the end of 1994, she was signed to Curb Records, & released her self-titled debut. While she did have hits with the first album, her major impact was after releasing her sophomore project, "I'm Alright," which gave her three No. 1 singles. Her third album, "Burn" was also a success.
While the album is uneven in it's song selection, production and vocals, it does showcase the fiery talent that lied within Jo Dee that was realized on her second, and first platinum album, "I'm Alright." This CD is a good addition to any collector's collection, especially Jo Dee Messina fans.
It was between the time between her first album and this one, she nearly went bankrupt. But friend Tim McGraw believed in her, and co-produced this and JoDee received the ACM award for New Female Vocalist in 1998. Her singles "Bye Bye," "I'm Alright," and "Stand Beside Me," all went to No. 1 and stayed there for consecutive weeks, making her the first female to do this.
Out of the eleven songs here, nearly all of them are either upbeat or mid-tempo, with the exception of the beautiful "Bring On The Rain" which Jo Dee sings with the help of Tim McGraw. This is a very empowering song that talks about everything going wrong, but even so, she says she's up to the task.
