From , former About.com Guide

There are new albums coming out all the time. We've picked several of the best country releases from October 2003.

1. Alabama: The American Farewell Tour - Alabama

In late 2002, Alabama, announced that 2003 would be their final touring year. When February 2003 rolled around the band released what was supposed to be their "final" album for their record label, RCA Records. However, as the year has rolled along, the band and the label decided to package a collection of songs that the band has sung while on tour. While it's not a live collection of songs, "Alabama: The American Farewell Tour" is a nice career-spanning collection of songs.

2. All I Want For Christmas is a Real Good Tan - Kenny Chesney

This is Kenny's first Christmas CD. Inside the cover, you read about Kenny's past few Christmas holidays spent in the Island. He also says that many of his Christmas' were spent in East Tennessee, so you will hear influences from both places.

3. Farm Fresh Onions - Robert Earl Keen

Robert Earl Keen definitely has his own style and does what he feels is right for the songs that he writes. From blues to humor and observances of people, there is something for all types of music lovers on "Farm Fresh Onions" whether it be rock or country or practically any other genre.

4. All That I Am - Daniel Lee Martin

Daniel Lee Martin's "All That I Am" is a solid debut from an artist with talent that needs to be showcased to a wide audience because he could definitely develop an even larger fan following that what he already has. Leaving a career he had for many years and taking the chance in Nashville was, no doubt, a tough thing for him to do, but I must say that he should be glad he did because you can tell he enjoys performing and writing his songs.

5. Mr. Snowman - John Michael Montgomery

If you're looking for an album with traditional stylings of mostly Christmas music you've heard before, you'll love this album. It's one I'll be playing through the holiday, especially for my family who aren't big country lovers.

6. Long Black Train - Josh Turner

There's no doubt this South Carolina native has what it takes. If he continues to follow those who inspired him, Hank and Cash and Randy Travis, he's going to stay in really good company. Keepin' it this country, the boy can't go wrong.

7. Just Because I'm a Woman - Various Artists

Bottom line is that the songs that were chosen to pay tribute to are excellent choices. Dolly's career is pretty much covered from her early hits up to songs from her latest album. They are just arranged very differently in most cases because of the wide range of genres that are brought together for this album. For those familiar and comfortable with the way Dolly sings them, it may a bit of a shock.

8. Sings - Gene Watson

Just good country music. How hard is that? Gene Watson makes it sound perfectly effortless. I guess we just have to say to heck with radio and go out and buy this disc if we want to hear it. Fortunately, it's worth it.

9. And the Crowd Goes Wild - Mark Wills

"And The Crowd Goes Wild" sets the stage for a promising second phase of Mark Wills' career. With more songs like "And The Crowd Goes Wild" and "Nothin' But A Suntan," Mark is sure to please many fans. Those looking for a nice modern country album should pick up a copy of "And The Crowd Goes Wild."
