There are new albums coming out all the time. We've picked several of the best country releases from September 2003.
Gary Allan has a California-cool sound blended with a large helping of pure country and a voice that would make any lady want to swoon. He does his own thing and continually puts out some of the greatest sounding music out there in contemporary country music.
"Wildwood Flower" is June Carter Cash's last album. She chose several of her favorite songs to include, and her album wouldn't be complete without a song to showcase her humor. John Carter Cash produced the album, and the finished product is more like a family gathering to share their music than a cold studio album.
"I Got A Feelin'" is a song that most guys can relate to for it talks about feeling like your in love and how you can't quite say the words. "That's Just Me" is one of those kinds of songs that just gets inside you and has you humming the melody and singing the words long after it's over. "Off My Rocker" has the potential to be a huge hit for it's a highly relatable song with, yet again, an infectious melody.
"Haggard Like Never Before" is the first release from the new "Hag Records," as Merle joins the many artists so fed up with major labels they're all starting their own. If you like country music: That simple, plain-spoken, working man music, then you need look no further than Merle Haggard.
Patty Loveless is sticking to her roots, and there is no question that it is where she belongs. 'On Your Way Home' is an album packed full of songs that are perfect for Patty's soulful voice. There are some drums, electric guitar and bass along with some twin fiddles that will knock your socks off. Overall, however, they showcase the acoustic side of things and Patty's voice shines in the spotlight.
For their second album to be titled "The Mavericks"(Their first album from 1990 was as well), the group has rounded up eleven songs that will remind fans more of their mid 1990's albums than 1992's "From Hell To Paradise" or 1998's "Trampoline." The Mavericks may have been gone from the scene for five years but their first album for Sanctuary Records is a confident and satisfying album.
Martina's self-titled album is her first studio album in four years. She co-produced the album with Paul Worley, and actually recorded the album in her home studio, which gave her the freedom to sing when she wanted, and take time out to be with her girls. It's an album filled with songs about relationships; be they daughter to mother, daughter to father, husband to wife, or boyfriend to girlfriend. Just when you think she can't possibly top her last album, she does.
Kenny Rogers is a talented vocalist who picks and sings very good songs. On "Back To The Well" he surrounds himself with his best batch of songs since his superstar days. Those who are longtime fans will thoroughly enjoy this album
Rick Trevino has seen the highs associated with an "Overnight Success" without much critical praise. During his return to his Latin roots, Rick experienced critical praise and realized that he had to do things his way, whether radio and Nashville liked it or not, to be happy. Thankfully both Nashville and radio seem to like Rick enough for us all to hear his wonderful new album, "In My Dreams."
From the playful "When She's Good, She's Good," to the power ballad "I Don't Want To Know," and everything in between. Clay has put together some great country songs that should do well on radio. It's been a while since Clay has been on top of the charts, and with the songs from "A Few Questions," I think that's just where we'll be seeing him once more. Welcome back Clay.
