Travis was born in Marietta, GA & taught himself how to play guitar when he was 8, and he wrote songs by 14. He signed to Warner Brothers & released "Country Club." While successful, Nashville was hesitant to embrace him because of his rock and roll roots. Today, he is now with Sony Nashville and continuing to make great music.
Travis was hitting his stride as an artist when he released '10 Ft. Tall and Bulletproof.' From the delightful humor of the title track, which discusses just how silly a man can get under the influence of alcohol, to the deeply heartfelt "Foolish Pride," Travis cracks open the shell of what country music is and he bares heart and soul.
This is Travis's ninth album, and one of the best in a long time. His first three singles have all reached the Top 5, with "Best of Intentions" reaching the top, "It's a Great Day To Be Alive"and "Love of a Woman," both going to No. 2, and the fourth single, "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" peaked at No. 8.
Travis Tritt wasn't welcomed into the fold of country music with open arms. He had to sneak in quietly, and was largely hidden behind the flashy marketing of Garth Brooks & the powerful thunder of Clint Black. Nashville wasn't sure what to think of Tritt, as outlaws had rocked the Nashville boat more than once, & Travis definitely had an edge to his country that was almost too much rock.
