Top 9 Top Picks from November 2005

From , former About.com Guide

There are new albums coming out all the time. We've picked several of the best country album releases from November 2005

1. Montgomery Gentry - Something To Be Proud Of: Best of 1999-2005

If you are a fan of any one of Montgomery Gentry's songs released to radio then you will no doubt be pleased with this album. It spans the whole six-years Eddie and Troy have been releasing music, and I have to say "Here's to six more.. and then some!"

2. Terri Clark - Life Goes On

Terri Clark released a gem of an album this time and I'm glad I have it. Each of the twelve songs would sound great on the radio and Terri's beautiful voice really shines through, especially on the slower songs. She really knows her "stuff" when it comes to the music she releases.

3. Bobby Bare - The Moon Was Blue

It's become popular in the last few years for older singers to take a break and release an album of favorite old songs, standards, and just stuff they like. Bobby Bare follows down that road (which was probably originally paved by Willie Nelson's "Stardust") with "The Moon Was Blue," a work of love driven by Bobby Bare Jr., pulling his father out of a twenty-year retirement. Bare's rich voice and love of song makes this much more than an album of covers. It's an instant classic.

4. Kenny Chesney - The Road and the Radio

Kenny Chesney's latest album is full of songs about life, love, and a little "needing to get away from it all." He continues the sound that all fans have known and loved for a while now because he knows what works for him. His fans will continue to love him and I'm sure he'll gain new fans too.

5. June Carter Cash - Church in the Wildwood

I always find it very hard to review gospel music, because I occasionally feel as though by standing judgement on non-secular music, I'm also judging the subject. So my approach to gospel records tends to be a little bit of walking on eggshells. But with this collection, that's not necessary. June Carter Cash is a woman of faith who embraces these songs with a sweet honesty that's gentle, reverent, and wonderful.

6. June Carter Cash - Ring of Fire: Best of June Carter Cash

For many years, June Carter Cash was all too happy to simply support her iconic husband, occasionally showing up on his albums in duets or backing him on occasional vocals, often just as pleased to step back and let her singing sisters take that duty from her. But June while herself said she was no vocalist, here she proves herself wrong.

7. Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts

American Idol Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood's debut album is just as expected, a country feel with some pop added to it. My belief is to appeal to those who watched her on American Idol and to those of us, who just plainly loved her for her country soul. Lots of variety in her vocals, which tells me she has true talent. America picked the perfect one to be this years American Idol, in my opinion.

8. Big & Rich - Comin' To Your City

Big and Rich are back with another crazy ride on their musical train. 14 tracks of the most genre hopping music you'll ever hear on a country album. But with almost every songs root's firmly planted in country, the duo takes you on a musical journey you won't soon forget.

9. Ray Scott - My Kind of Music

This is truly one of the best CD's I have listened to in a long time. Ray Scott has a great baritone and the songs have lots of steel and make you want to find the nearest Honky Tonk and dance the night away. It is a very traditional CD and brings back hope that country music may be back on the right track. If you love real country music, you will love this CD.
