Each year, country music puts out some outstanding albums. AboutCountry staff writer Penny Rondinella gives us her choices for the Top 10 Albums for 2005.
Shelly, being a dramatic person, brings to you this album with all kinds of feelings from sexy to swampy, as she says she wanted it to be. And boy has she. Just sit back and feel the power of her voice that will put you in every situation she sings about. But hold on, it'll be a "Ride" you'll never forget.
This album is all I've been waiting for and far more than I expected. Faith has once again out done herself with this album. There isn't a song on it that I don't like. Faith's sixth album and she does an incredible job on all the songs. There are some great ballads and a special Duet with husband Tim. One you won't want to miss adding to your collection of country CD's. Plug it into your cd player in your car and right off "Sunshine and Summertime" comes on, and you are good to go.
What song of Tracy's don't I like, there isn't one. This album is chalk full of great hits, 15 of them and a couple of new ones to boot. Tracy's recognizable voice is such music to my ears whenever I hear him sing. I caught a performance of his a while ago and have followed his career since then. I'm so glad he came out with another collection and the hits on this album I'm told were re-recorded. A must have for any supporter out there, a collection to beat all collections.
At the Young age of 22 this is LeAnns twelfth album after debuting with Blue in 1996 and it's an amazing one at that. She now can sing about things that she has actually experienced rather than having to only imagine what it would be like. She now can bring meaning to a lyric like she has never done before. Don't get me wrong, I have always loved LeAnn's voice and music, but this album I believe is her best.
They say that everything that's old is new again. Well that is sure the case with Martina McBride's new CD called 'Timeless.' You get 18 classic country songs from the 60's and 70's that made country music great! This is one that you will definitely want to give a listen to.
This album shows just how life is, with all the deep meaningful songs on it. It proves to me that country music has a huge impact on people, because it speaks of life and how we chose to live it.
If you like your country with a little rock, Trace Adkins will do you just fine with 'Songs About Me.' The album is filled with songs many fans can relate to.
Gretchen's sophomore album is just as strong as her first. She proves she can hold her own with the boys on the drinking songs, and make you run for a box of tissues with her ballads. She's a woman with her own mind, and she isn't afraid to be who she is. Anyone who loves great country music will enjoy this CD. The lyrics are a little politically incorrect at times, but she is singing about real life and not a fantasy world. To me, this is what country music has always been about.
Toby Keith is a superstar who continues to make good albums. While "Honkytonk University" isn't Toby's greatest, it's full of good songs, many of them more traditional sounding than a lot of other contemporary stars songs are.
After a break from the music industry, Trisha is back with a vengeance. This album is fun to listen to. She has chosen songs she can have some fun with as well as a few ballads where she can really show off her vocal abilities. It is a great addition to any CD collection.
